Here you can find map and battle details:

Armies
50 pts, 1 rare, deployment zone 2 hexes from the shorter side of the map.
Exclamation  Errata: Japanese may use all units available in 1939 (even if "RUS" location is not mentioned). Russians may use Fanatical Sniper.

Tips for beginners
- SOVIET UNION: Your tanks are better than japanese. However, a heavy artillery may serve as well.
- JAPANESE: 75mm AA gun is rare and fragile, but a good one. Zero with a Small bomb might be a good investment.

Map: Far East
* Use classic skirmish battle (objective = center).

Special: Infantry may hide behind rail embankment and in the fields with cover -1.

As in first roll for deployment - winner choses who will deploy first. I.e. you should roll for deployment (as the map and the side are already chosen).

PS: Sorry, question not answered correctly - railway line and fields does not block L.O.S. (to low to hide units behind)

Mr. Westen has to choose who starts (and eventually deploy his units)

Which units are spotters and how do they affect indirect fire?

What is the spotting range?

Thank you.

yes.  and they don't affect him.

that's my understanding.  I didn't think it was a very good thing either but I considered it as compensation for the fact that I could not place mines on the enemy side of the objective.

Spotter is a unit with SA "Spotter". There is no such unit in your game. Mines deploy up to 4 hexes from owner deployment zone.
