I have played Wotc for several years. Exclusively playing German tanks, the Tiger is a beast. The Panther is a disappointment with all the accessories. The Jagpanther is an underrated TD! The Stug, Panzer 1C, and Panzer IV are fun too!

I just crested 9500 games yesterday myself.

For me the Panther was a good tank, Mastered it and am around 83% of the second mark of Excellence.  Its just has a different playstyle than most other mediums. You got to shadow the heavys sniping early in the game and break away from the group mid-game and troll the wounded ducks. Its gun pens so well, even on tier 8 that all you have to do is flank and even poorly aimed shots do damage. But admittedly as much as I like it I doubt it will ever get a Top Gun award because of its low alpha damage.

My absolute favorite all time medium tank without hesitation is the Tier7 UK Comet troll-mobile. You either love this tank or hate it. For me its the combination of mobility, turret traverse and firepower. The 77mm gun has great ROF, good pen but low damage which is why its mobility is so important. Never stop in a Comet or you will be going back to the garage early. Sad  Having said all that, I have never made even a single cent in silver driving this tank, just had a ton of fun.

I'm working my way to the Panther, on the VK 30.02M atm.

Just got my first tier 9, the ST-I heavy tank.

Loved the VK 30.02 M, nice gun and pretty bouncy front armor.

Ive never gone beyond tier 8 yet. Gameplay gets pretty serious above tier 8 and frankly I not good enough yet to brawl against tier 10's. I'm having some success with the Centurion I so likely this winter I hope to unlock the tier 9 Centurion 7/1.

You like the ST-1?

Yeah, I too have played a great deal! German line exclusively. Tiger I is the best but it can' touch a T-29 nor IS series too well, though. Ironically, the P38T is my most successful performer!

How are your "personal missions" coming? I'm pretty much ignoring mine, and happy when they are completed.

I think many people are focusing on them so much, that the team play suffers.

I've knocked out a few, but TBH I haven't been making them a focus. Instead, I've pretty much been doing what I've always done; focus on getting my daily 2x on the few lines that I'm actively grinding at any given time, and laughing at the silliness I see in the pub matches Wink.

Speaking of personal matches:

I signed up for them and slowly acquired them all until I got to the platoon requirements and thats where it stopped. I don't buy into these gimmicks that require you to play ridiculous amounts of games like I have absolutely no life outside WoT.

Yea, the missions sure made for strange pub matches and weird behaviors from players.

Ive just been having fun concentrating on earning MoEs on all my favorite tanks

Jackson - 2
Wolverine - 2
T25 AT - 1
T34 -2
VK3001 M - 1
PZ IV H - 1
Comet - 1
Centurian - at 63%, so very soon.
VK 3601 - 1

Any free exp I acquire I have been putting towards upgrading the centurion 7/1 to all the top modules which is proving more expensive than the exp required to research it in the first place.

I played on Xbox before work today, had a silly game with my T1 Heavy (I was in the Beta on PC... and I have never gone down the US Heavy line until this week) where I was top tier and just barreled through. Don't think I've ever gotten that many medals in one game before.

High Caliber, Steel Wall, Spartan, Top Gun, and that one for killing 3 artys in one game... but somehow not Ace. Probably because I was spanking Tier IVs/IIIs.

This also completed that "First to the Fray" operation for me with that Top Gun. I juuuuust managed to get the last shot in on that poor AMX 38 to get it. Had some other games where I had 5 kills and either someone else nailed the last hit or we capped before I could get it (who caps when its 6 to 1!! Just go get that guy!  Evil or Very Mad )

Hello, I was wondering of anybody can help me with a question on ammunition types. I am still new to this game and was wondering when should I use HE and APCR rounds?

The short answer is this:
Use HE against weakly armored arty/TDs or at long range vs things you can't penetrate with AP but maybe want to do some external module (like tracks, gun, or view finder) damage to.

Use APCR at close/mid range (its penetration chance drops off hard at range) against heavily armored enemies that your AP ammo has no chance of hurting.

HE can be also very effective at taking care of lower tier scout tanks. I often load a HE at start of the match so when the enivitable scout tank appears you are ready. If the HE pens, its often a one shot kill and if it doesn't pen it useally blows its tracks off for your teammates dispose of it.

I got into the PC version of the game a few months back, and while I love the mechanics of how everything works the lack of helpful instruction on how to learn what's needed to be learned to play somewhat decently makes the PC version pretty bad.  On top of this Wargaming continues to run special events and other "draws" to bring in new players and increase cash flow without teaching these new players anything about how to actually play the game.  And when these new players go on the official forums as players are apt to do expecting the official forums to be a reliable and good source of information.  What they get is not a friendly helpful place but a hostile and unhelpful place that divides the players into those who are the elite players or those trying to become like the elite players and the useless scrubs who just want to have fun playing the game and don't care about their stats overly much or join to play the game for social purposes and have fun playing the game without hardcore competing.  I stopped playing the game for at least and probably more then two weeks because of this.  I have returned but can't play right now because I don't have any sound on my computer.  Recently they have posted a survey for feedback upon their forums and I don't think the results are going to be the happy friendly results they desire.  Players cannot play the game to make friends or have fun with friends in friendly competition, it's either you are or want to be a stats god or you're a useless scrub that's ruining the game for everyone else.  The stats gods look at the pure mathematics of the game engine and fail to see that there is an unquantifiable element to the game that they cannot calculate or predict.  This element is the human element, the psychological element of why humans pick certain vehicles and guns.  I play with a mix of the pure mathematics of the engine and intuition on the human element of the game.  Does my intuition make me a better player?  No but it allows me to take advantage of an aspect of the game that other players fail to utilize or even admit is a part of the game.  I have attempted to state my opinions on this several times on the forums and every time I have been assaulted for not getting in line with the "mathematical" program and attempting to be a stats god.  I have no interest in being a stats god or elite player or even a decent player.  I just want to be a player that can do as he does and try his best to support the team the way the he plays the game.  But I cannot do this because there is no middle ground for players like me.

I totally agree.

My favourite line to post when people start shouting expletives is "If only people would take free internet games more seriously!"

So I unlocked the Grant. Completely stock. I've heard everyone talk how crappy this tank is. My questions are:

Has anyone played this tank?
What should I research and use on the tank?
How can I use it effectively in battle?
