I think the whole value of fredmiracle's list is the fact that he only adjusted costs and nothing else, so mixing it with an errata list would be self-defeating.

I was wondering what Warspite thought of this list. Personally, I really like it and want to include it in friendly matches. Otherwise units are not used.

It definitely is up there with my other favorite house rules:
1. Forumini custom cards
2. OOB rules
3. Warspite's Errata
4. fredmiracle's recosting list

Excellant thinking and objectivity.  This replaces my recosting list.  It would be great if an official errata would come out.

Anyone have any ideas for making such a thing?

I've seen very small stickers in various shapes and colors in office supply stores.  You would have to write the new cost on the sticker.

You can get print kits in various styles and colors at hobby/scrapbooking stores.  I don't think I am going to be that fancy.  I will scan a value I need then print it off, cut it out, and use my wife's non-acidic adhesive to attach to existing cards.  That would prpbably be the most cost-effective way.

I do love the list but how could the MTB get missed?

Yes, I've been a bit busy, but I do plan to revisit in light of CZ some time in the next few weeks

My buddy Ron wants to recost the Scharnhorst now the Gneisenau is out.  He's pretty upset about the wrong one getting the long shot lol.

I notice in different years different ships/planes range from very useful to useless.  Something like they have less value as the game goes on. Swordfish early in the war vs late.  Think about the power creep of the American fighters towards the end of the war.  In 1940 scenarios I'm happy to float around somethings I wouldn't want at all in 1944.

Just give Scharnhorst Torpedo defense 1 and 38 points are ok

I think this should be bumped back up to the top. Very Happy It's a useful list to be sure.

Are there any more recostings that should be done considering the new sets, or is this a pretty definitive list at the moment?

If you have an addition to propose, please post the unit, the recost, and a validation for the recosting similar to fredmiracle's.

My apologies to fredmiracle if it seems like I'm hijacking his thread.

I'd like to sticky it as well - but wouldn't mind getting Flakstruk's input on that first - the Houserules thread has been his duty a lot longer than mine! Smile

Hijack away! Smile

I feel there are a few things that should be added/changed (Murasame is probably my top problem child)

However there's so little granularity left to play with that it's daunting. I've tackled it a couple of times, and always gotten stymied and given up.

Thank you, kind sir! Smile

It does seem a pretty daunting project, but hopefully with other input we could expand the list to include some of those other overshadowed units (Scharnhorst, Rodney, etc.). Granted some may be best dealt with by a custom card... but for those of us who don't want to mess with that, a recost is a quick way to get the unit back in play.

So what do people think? Please post units you think are unplayable at their current cost (or are actually under costed), and we can expand this list.

Great work, I really like this. If you add to the top the part about Scharnhorst (-1 for sp?) that helps make it a "print and use" list.

Thanks for doing this ...

Oh, one more thing, RB admitted overcosting S-H for the Germans. It probably is a 17-18 point ship. The link below is to a "study" I did after reading that RB intentionally overcosted it so it would not lead a lot of German attacks in the game.

I recommend blending this list with Lucky Y's cards (Tone, others) (they seem to be "official" to this forum!?) and adding:

FS/25-Schleswig-Holstein 17 Points (was 21) – As Rich Baker admitted, he overcosted the ship so that German players would not use it so frequently.

WS/40-Scharnhorst: 41 Points (was 38) – Was twin of Gneisenau should have all Gneisenau SA’s as well, as they sank the Furious together, Scharnhorst hit first!

My $.02 Wink

Swordfish. Comparing it to the 10 point FI 167, I think 9 points is probably fairer.  +1 Armor and AP6 doesn't seem like 2 points, especially with Lucky Hit and +1 ASW thrown in.

Koln Flotilla Leader makes the Karlsruhe a target; Lead the Attack makes Kolns a threat in an Objective Rush fleet.  I see no problem with the current costs.

Halifax 10 Hi-Level bomb is about as good as a 6-die standard bomb attack. In addition, the Halifax combines very well with British destroyers in ASW, having the armor and vital to stay around to not only use its ASW but use ASW Pinpointer.  Let's not forget, this unit is a 5-8-1 against fighters, tough to abort, let alone kill until you get to late war fighters.  I think 6 points if fine, if arguably a touch low.

Small problem.
WS/20-TBD Devastator: 7 Points (was 9) - Compared to TBF-1, it has 2.5 less VA, 1 less ASW, 1 less armor and no Alternate Payload. 4 point lower cost is justified.

2 points, not 4.
