I've never played TOI, but I don't know if using M44 for the battle outcomes of A&A would work.  I think something more along the lines of AAM or WAS would work better.  I've never tried it, but have talked about it.

Just started playing this game during the holidays and am really enjoying the fast paced play, the way the command cards add a fog of war element, and the fixed setup makes it great for solo play.  Now just need more time to play through all the scenarios!?!

Am using my large AAM (version I) land collection in place of the M44 pieces.  I just use a single AAM unit on the board and use the Litko flame markers to indicate damage.  My AAM aircraft are finally hitting the game board with the air rules.  Just one problem, where does one find a 1/300 scale Storch???

GHQ makes pretty much anything WWII in 1/285, but is that really the scale you're looking for? They're tiny...

Thanks!!!  Found it.  AAM aircraft scale I believe is 1/240, so 1/285 is not that off.

Oh, my bad! When you said Storch I got it muddled up in my head and thought your were talking about a truck. I think I was mashing up Steyr and Horch... Embarassed

I have a few 1/285 planes from GHQ in my micro armor collection. They paint up nice, but they are noticeably smaller than the AAM planes. I suggest you go with 1/144 planes - you can get much nicer 1/144s than the AAM planes and simply replace the AAM models with 1/144s. I think the 1/144s go nicely with the AAM land models size-wise - they don't dwarf them the way the A20 true 15mm models do (though the A20 models are nice!)

I played this the past weekend and while it was interesting it really wasn't my cup of tea a little too basic/abstract for me compared to aam, I like the differences of tanks infantry etc.

There was strategy and I appreciate what they are trying to do but not my personal type of thing.

Having played both TOI and M44, I gotta say that TOI is more on my level. The two games operate on opposite sides of the spectrum, so comparing them is kind of pointless. Whoever said M44 was abstract was right in the money. To me, those kind of game mechanics worked really well for Battlecry, but just didn't translate into a WW2 setting very well for me. TOI is a great game as log as you have the patience to read a 50 page instruction manual and subsequent 15 page manuals for each expansion. But once you play a few games, you get the hang of it. Just don't drink beer and play at the same time....cognition and memory for rules go right out the window

That's an interesting though bean Smile

I guess you would need to assign a specific scenario map for each territory and then add the units at battle time. It would be a mega campaign and need a lot of space but it would also mean you would have units with depleted numbers after a battle unless they are automatically reinforced...wow....this could get complicated but be awesome LOL

Nice, that was the last sceanrio I bought, but have not had a chance to play yet.  The only one I am missing is hedgerow hell, but it is no longer available and is quite pricey on the secondary market if you can find it.

That sounds awesome! Very Happy
Are there any speculations/ideas on what it's going to be?

Bought Memoir'44 a couple of years ago, and I like how it's light enough to attract casual/non-gamers for me to play with, but still quite fun.  I also own Eastern Front, Pacific Theatre,  Winter/Desert Board Map, Winter Wars and the Campaign Book Volume 2, which I got for Christmas.

At this moment, I'm actually in the talks of buying another Memoir44 base game, the Terrain Pack, the Campaign Book Volume 1 and the Air Pack (!) for the equivalent of 65 $, which I believe is a great price! I really hope I'm able to seal the deal on this one. Smile

By the way, do you guys feel the Equipment Pack is worth the money?

The air pack alone is going for $100ish on its on, go for it Smile

The equipment pack is pretty cool, I am thinking about getting a second kit for painting, some of the minis are not the best quality tho...at least in the box I have.

indeed, i think that in order to play it you need something like 8 base games (i own two) plus lots of extras like the BEF and terrain packs...

still i'm lurking on it! Laughing
