More like "stacking" system. The legs of each board which are made from styrofoam and are painted gray, brown and green to look like deteriorated stone columns with vines. I also have some the size of maps so that the board can easily be stacked and put away in a closet.
The boards themselves are about 1/2 centimeter thick posterboard.

I think that's more storage than transport? I'm not really sure.

Each board is not attached to another, they are all free-standing. It makes it nice to be elevated on the table, especially when maps are used on them and you need to stack them to continue the game another day...

Keep them stacked like that when you play and play it like the 3 level chess game Kirk and Spock (Star Trek) played.  Once you figure out the new movement and firing rules it will be easy, yikes. Smile

Let's put it this way: some year at GenCon, I'd like to do Midway or Coral Sea, with planes changed to a scale of "each stand represents exactly as many planes as are sculpted on it"--which means basically I'll bring everything I got and you guys just furnish planes, cruisers and smaller ships to fill out each force to its historical Order of Battle.

I figure for all the planes and subs buzzing around, we'll need something like Herky's system, but with clear and clear-blue shelves, probably croupier's sticks to move things around and at least nine to twelve tables of nothing but one big battle.

Who's Game?

Woodgateski, you're still starting--nothing to be ashamed of about it.

Someday, young Brasshopper, you too shall amass a Godless American Armada of Dooming Death... lol
