The plan was that the Yugoslavian army would retreat steadily south and reach Albania together with Greece, so that a new front would be prepared in Salonika (like in WWI), where a combined Allied army (Greece, Yugoslavia, British) would try to stop the Germans. Unfortunately the Yugoslavs didn't manage to reach south, as the Italians trapped them and they were annihilated by the Germans. Only 1,000 army and several hundred air force personnel (including one mobile-workshop unit of six vehicles) reached Greece and escaped to Egypt.
