I don't think I can add high enough. But here's an outline, Yamato, Musashi, 2xNagato, fill up the rest with subs and fighters.

Alaska's are 28 points each; so two of them should equal 56, not 52.
Also, you should probably pick a point limit before you design your fleet, rather than after, if you want people to take your builds more seriously. This one totals 759 (763 corrected for Alaska); so for an 800 point fleet, it sucks, because it is basically down one light battleship, a few cruisers, or an entire carrier air wing before it even starts the game.
Anyway, I'll try and be helpful; you could throw in one more Alaska and Laffey to make it an even 800.

Teh US fleet seems to have a bit problem with Enemy Subs - afew DDs and 4 Avengers are no real threat to a serious Sub fleet. Even a Cruiser fleet stands a good chance against it if played correctly
For all that power you have only a FEW shots available.
But my main concern would be - what does the map look like you play this on??
IMHO its just a boom boom collection of the big BBs - it would be no fun to play against sure, but as pointed out its quite easy to beat.
outline of a strategy against it.
Subs - many subs. (20??)
Destroyers with smoke, cruisers with long lance
a load of fighters - dont worry about bombers of your own.
Musashi/Yamato - maybe

would prefer surface Long Lance power against and a handful infiltrators
Land base had 13 slots at 5oo points and 9 at 3oo (Rules book page 35)
so we can expect that the Land base had almost 2o slots at this point range.
A normal map would be very tight for that fleets even that you can stack 3 units into one sector.

I agree. The point totals that people usually play at are 200 and 500, so you may want to stick with those.
