even with 8 Sammy b and one Hoel it would have a hard fight to deal with a larger submarine fleet that uses Flottilla leaders and some offensive aircrafts that can easy erase your surface born ASW units even because of the armor 1 rating of the sammy b .
the 8 battleships can deal out a hard punch especially in an objective grabbing scenario and probably would last long enough to claim them.
just calculate the usual IJN heavvys:
Yamato 70
Musashi 66
Nagato x 2 96
cost only 232 points and would left a plenty of points for bringing a handful of I-26 , zekes some bombers and even a pair of cap 3 carriers
Finally I would use my IJN Long lance fleet that I designed to crush your cruiser fleet, Long lances works fine against BB builds too.
in general those all of one type fleets have too much weak spots that enemy fleets often can exploit with ease.
the only swarm fleets that works average against every other fleets are
destroyer swarms with a decent air cover.
the german sub swarm fleet is another thing but I rerely play with german units/fleets.
