Transport Questions?

Well I’m back with more Questions.

I was browsing through the Question and Answer Threads on the Fleemax forums, and came across an interesting statement. It said that a spotter in a transport can spot a target regardless of whether the transport moved. Because the spotter wasn’t counted as moving just the transport was.

This got me wondering...since by this logic the only way a transported unit can be considered to be ‘Moving’ is if it dismounts.

My questions:

1: Can a spotter (using the revised spotter SA text) in a transport spot a target for an indirect attack if the transport it is in has moved that assault phase?

2: Also can the transport move after the indirect fire attack has been ‘called in’ by its passenger?

3: Can a unit in a transport with the fighting platform SA attack a target after the transport has moved?

4: Can a Transport with the fighting platform SA move, after the unit it is transporting has attacked?

Thanks for your help!
Sharpe

1.  yes

2. yes

3.  no, according to the SA, the transport cannot move

4. no, see above

Oops!$# Embarassed  it’s been a while since I looked at the Fighting Platform SA the wording is very clear. I should have looked at the card.

Thanks for helping me out anyway!
Sharpe

My pleasure.  If nothing else, we can be more polite than that "other" place.  So, feel free to ask.

Additional question on fighting platform

Can a unit that i being transported in a vehicle with the fighting platform SA, be targetted rather than the vehicle ?

Thanks for asking the other questions WarGamerX - very helpful - i will have to admitt to my dad (who i play against) that my charging around with me M5 half track and machine gun team shotting everything has been somewhat flawed.

No.  It can be affected by an attack from a unit with Blast.

Interesting!  I hadn't thought that Blast could target both the transport and the carried unit(s).

You target the transporter and it attacks the transportee also.

Blast hits each unit in the target hex...I think?

Sure, any unit that destroys a transport destroys the transported unit too -- but I don't get two attack rolls due to Blast, do I?
Sharpe

One attack roll for each unit in target hex, including passengers.

Sweet!  Now, where can I confirm this with official sources?  I can't just tell my opponents that you said so. Wink  Is it on a WotC FAQ or something, or is it obviously stated somewhere in the rulebook that I've missed?

Sure you can.  I'm Sharpe, dammit.  I was out saving the universe when their grandfathers were still in diapers.

It used to be on the old boards but they erased those.  The best thing to do is ask WoTC_Huscarl the same question or search his little area.
Amandil

Cool, thanks.  I'm sure the "I'm Sharpe, dammit" will work wonders! Laughing

Can a solider that was already boarded a transport disembark on the assault phase? i.e. A jeep with a soldier on turn one moves 5 hexes and then in the assault phase the moves another 5 hexes, can the soldier disembark? Seems to work for me. The soldier doesn't get to attack because it moved/disembarked during the assault phase. What's the ruling?
Sharpe

Soldiers can only load/unload during the Movement Phase.
