Spanish Civil WarDoes anybody know what types of German vehicles were used in the Spanish Civil war? I thought I would help out NeuralDream on some units. All I know is that the JU-52 was used, as was a German Biplane... He-something.... but I am first looking for the ground vehicles....

All I could find was Hitler didn't want to commmit panzer III and IV. He was holding them back So I guess panzer I and II was about it. Russians commited some T-26 and I think another kind of out dated tank.

From what I could find the Panzer I was the only tank used by the Germans. the Nationalists took some and modified the turrent to hold a 20mm cannon, but the Condor Legion did not like it and changed them back.

I'll start doing the spanish civil war this sunday. I'd greatly appreciate some more help, such as a list of units that were widely used, plus a couple less common ones. I know pretty much all about the aircraft that were used, but for the ground units I don't even know what machine guns were common. Plz differentiate between German, Russian, Spanish Rep. and Spanish Nat. Also, were there any naval engagements? Should I do any WAS cards too?

these weapons only turned up in commmunist formations
The anarchists were hated by communists so they didn't like to share.
Anarchists go mostly french \brit supplies smuggled across border.
mostly MGs and rifles.
Anarchists made there own tanks out of lorries with welded plates and any weapon they could find.

Raevski, can you also provide some of the photos that can accompany these cards? It's proving very difficult for me to find say a Nationalist MG34 photo, and the same for most units.

You ask and I'll find, just name it.
I'll start with mg34 be back soon.

There are three engagements worth checking out in Wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cape_Cherchell
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cape_Espartel
And the biggest battle, fought on the night of March 5-6, 1938 between Nationalist heavy cruisers and Republican light cruisers:
