Yes, no.

Historically speaking and general military practice is for soldiers (not AA specific unit) firing upon attacking enemy aircraft throw up a wall of lead the aircraft flys through during its attack. A single sniper tryin to shoot down an aircraft would be almost impossible to do. Although game mechanics allow you to do so it would be logical to impose a house rule prohibiting them from attacking aircraft. Of coarse this is just my opinion...

Sharpe, if Crack Shot gives +1 to dice regardless of target, but Aircraft make their attackers' die -1 (unless the attacker has Anti-Air), then it follows that the sniper's +1 bonus does indeed apply, only that it is evened-out by the -1. So snipers end up with natural dice values against planes, whereas regular soldiers attacking planes don't. Or am I missing something?

You're missing the latest revision which changed the rules so that Crack Shot does not apply to attacks against planes.
I wish I had a link for you. Oops, I found it.

Ah, indeed! Missed that line buried in there.
Makes good sense, of course.

I house ruled it can't be done. However they would only need 4's. It's a bolt action rifle, it can't put out that much led.
