SA GuidelinesEach country should have a range of infantry from conscript to elite, plus whatever historical units we come with later.
Besides the attack dice, these units should be distinguished by their Special Abilities.
I would like to see Special Abilities that allow units small advantages and force players to create situations where they can benefit from these advantages. These SA's should be related to the national characteristics of each army. Please avoid Special Abilities that are always active. (ie, no bloody Crack Shot)
SA's that interact with commanders are good.

Just some SA ideas
Dutch : Hard minded / Eigenwijs
fluff : even though they lacked ammo , support weapons , sufficient aircraft support, communications and tanks, Dutch troops still managed to fight with improvisation, stubborness and guts in the opening days of the war, delaying the German forces considerably. Only after the Germans (threatened to, and actually did) bomb Rotterdam did the Dutch High Command cease resistance.
SA effect : If adjected to a Dutch commander, Dutch infantry in cover can move even when pinned
Belgium : Delay Tactics / Vertragingstaktieken
fluff : The defensive plan of Belgium was built on slowing down the attackers on different defensive lines, using obstacles, forts and other defensive works. If it hadn't been for the lightning speed Blitzkrieg, and for paratroopers taking out the pivotal Eben Emael fortress, it might have worked.
SA Effect : If adjected to a Belgian commander, any Belgian infantry unit can effectively cut a road in its assault phase instead of moving or attacking. Cut the road on a roll of 4+. Treat this cut as an obstacle, that can subsequently be removed by an engineer.

I was hoping to use POLDERGEEST for the Dutch units.
It's a lot funnier in English.

crist.. I finally get the pun.. (poltergeist.. sigh )
But it means just about nothing in Dutch (spirit of the land we won from floodland / polder).
It was a good rule though (allowing them to cross streams easily).
'Fierljeppen' is the right word for that, by the way.
