RN vs RM/KM in the Med. Game scenario: The Libyian run!

Axis and Allies War at Sea
Game scenario:  The Libyian run.

THE ITALIAN RM BRIEFING:
The Royal Navy is escorting a supply convoy to Libyia from Gibralter.  The Regia Marina have other plans.  The Convoy will pass near Italian occupied islands in the Med.  We have a small Airfield located on one of those Islands which can support up to five squadrons of aircraft.
The objective for the RM is to intercept the convoy, and, if possible capture the supply ships, but if that is not reasonably feasable then, sink them.  Ultimately they must not reach their destination, the Libyian ports in control of the British.
Success of our German Allies in Northern Africa is dependent upon it.  We must not fail!
In support of your effort Admiral, We are providing you with the Battleship Vittorio Veneto.  She has just completed her refit and is already heading to the rendevous point as we speak.  Be advised Admiral, that there is also a wolfpack of German Subs operating out there and quite possibly may be in the area designated for intercepting the British convoy.  Our Submarine commanders have also been advised to be watchful for them and DO NOT mistake them for RN Subs.  Their only targets are to be surface ships period.  They are not to engage other subs.
Your intercept force will consist of the Following ships:
BB- Vittorio Veneto
CA- Bolzano
CA- Zara
CL- Eugenio Di Savoia
CL- Emanuele Filiberto Duca D'Aosta
DD- Navigatori Class Destroyers x 4.  Two in particular Luca Tarigo and Ugolino Vivaldi for their operational specialties.
SS- Ambra class submarines x 2 will be already pre-positioned in the area and their location is considered secret.
x3 German Uboats U-510, 512, & 66 also operating in the area and their location is known only by the KM.
Squadrons 35 and 36 Aero consisting of Macci C.202 fighters and Squadron 57 and 58 Aero consisting of Ju-87 R2's will be based on Santa Isabele Island located approx. 50 to 60 Km from Sicily.  These aero squadrons are at your command and disposal for air support.  These are all we have available at this time so do not squander them.
Good luck to you Admiral, we know you will bring pride to your country by not failing in this mission.

THE BRITISH RN BRIEFING:
The Royal Navy is tasked with escorting this convoy in particular since it has vital equipment and supplies General Montgomery needs for the defense of El Alamein.  Ammunition and repair parts are in critically short supply, and the Afrika Korps are preparing for a major push to El Alamein very soon.  Previous convoys of supplies have been intercepted and sent to the bottom of the Mediterranian Sea.  This one must get through without fail.  The armed escort for this convoy will be very heavy by comparison to most other convoys, that consisted of only destroyers and light cruisers.  We will be including a fleet carrier and two additional land based Air squadrons in support.  There is also an MTB squadron of Vospers based in Libyia that will intercept the convoy to aid in anti-submarine operations.
Intel has indicated the Regia Marina has sortied out the Vittorio Veneto with at least two heavy cruisers and several light cruisers with heavy destroyer escort.  She has been recently refitted, with what we do not know.  So be careful!  Keep an eye out for subs, both Italian and German, Admiral. They have been operating throughout the area where the convoy must travel to it's destination.  So far submarine ambushes have accounted for thousands of tons of lost supplies.  This must not be allowed to continue.
Your Escort force will comprise of the following ships:
BC- HMS Renown
CV- HMS Ark Royal
SQDNA # 3 Seafires,  SQDNAT #12 Swordfish MkII, SQDNATB #1 Barracuda MkII
CA- HMS Suffolk
CA- HMS Dorsetshire
CL- HMS AJAX
CL- HMS Arethusa
CL- HMS Aurora
DD- HMS Jaguar
DD- HMS Jackel
DD- HMS Javelin
DD- HMS Jersey
MTB Vosper Sqdrn x 1 Based in Libyia
Aero fighter squadron # 22 Sea Hurricane Mk 1B and Aero Torpedo squadron # 23 Swordfish MkII Land based in Libyia(off board) on call for convoy air support.
Good Luck to you Admiral and God speed.

At minimum four aux ships up to six.  points not factored into Allied fleet build and not part of it.  Points for sinking or capturing are still awarded as normal.

The Allied objective is to get all of the supply ships to the opposite side of the map intact, however at least one supply Aux ship must reach the opposite side of the map in order to win the scenario no matter how many points of escorting support ships have been lost due to combat.

The Axis objective is to stop the convoy from reaching it's destination.  It is preferable that the ships be taken intact.  The supplies on those ships can be beneficial to the Axis.  If it is not feasable to capture them, then put em to the bottom.
If you lose more than 50% of your surface force. (subs and aircraft do not count) then the Italians(Axis) lose the scenario.
If the Axis allows even one supply ship to reach the opposite end of the map, they lose the scenario.
Once an Allied Aux supply ship moves past the center row of the map, it must be destroyed rather than captured.
Capturing an Aux ship:  In order to capture an Aux ship one of your ships must be in the same sector as the aux ship and, there cannot be any of the Aux's friendly escort ships in the same sector.  The capturing player must declare that they are capturing the ship.  Then roll of the amount of dice for the attacking ships primary gun's dice.  If the # of successes equal or exceed the vital armor of the Aux ship then it is considered captured, not destroyed as normal.
Once the ship has been captured it is now under the control of the capturing player.  If the capturing player succeeds in getting the captured ship off the map on any side, then that player gets the double the points for that unit.
Destroying the Aux ship only the base points are awarded.

Map set up:
Place one of the large islands in the center row of the map and in the middle.  On this island is a 5 cap airfield controlled by the Italians (Axis)  The Axis player may place their aircraft on this Island and may use them as if they were based on an Aircraft Carrier.  That is, there is no requirement to "rearm" them.  They are available every turn.  The reason for this is because they are based on the Map.
Next, place four small islands on the map.  Two on the Axis side and two on the Allied side.  These Islands can be place anywhere on the map no closer than one row  from the center.  Each player will place these islands on their own side of the map.

The Axis player have five subs to deploy.  The German subs must be placed in secret and the Ambra's may be placed secretly or in the open, axis player's choice.   The Axis player must write down the row and square #s of each of the subs that are deployed secretly.  The German Subs may be placed anywhere on the map, even on the Allied side.  The Italian subs may only be deployed up to their half of the map.

The Allied player has a single squadron of MTB's that may be deployed anywhere up to the center row of the map.  This unit is placed before any other unit.

In General, both the Allied and Axis player may make up to one unit exchange and must be for up to the equivilant # of points.  you may not exchange one unit for two equalling the same points.  It is strictly a one-for-one exchange of units regardless of the point difference.

Now deploy your fleets and roll to see who has the initiative.
