PT Boats vs Stacking

I’ve a question which I can’t find an answer in the rules. Please, could someone help me?

PT Boats are extra-fast very small units. On the card they are classified as SHIP so I think that the stacking rule applies totally to them. So when stacking limit is 2 ships/quadrant, only two PT Boat units can occupy it, right?

It’s quite strange for me that a unit so small doesn’t have the Close Escort SA…

Is there an overrule for this particular situation?
Thanks.

I think two per sector is correct. I never thought of PT Boats as escorts, due to their small size and puny defensive capabilities. Any Ship they escort would seem to be escorting them, instead, as seems to me.   Wink

Yeah, I think it is two per sector as well.....not that I'm happy about it.

Look at the scale of a sector and tell me you couldn't have a whole heck of a lot of PT boats maneuvering in one.

Yes, it's exactly what I tried to say in my terrible english  Embarassed
I think it would be more realistic allow 3 PT Boats or 2 ships and 1 PT Boat per quadrant...

But as you said, the rule says only two.

Remember that it's not a historical simultation, it's a beer and pretzels game.  And the more exceptions you make, the more rules people have to learn.

And in the case of "torpedo boat" (PT Boat, Motor Torpedo Boat, S-Boat, etc.), the single unit actually represents several of this type of craft.

Probably wouldn't be a bad houserule.  My group always has the joke come up of when someone is going to pull the PT boat swarm in like a 200 point match
