Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Gunnery AttacksOkay, this question comes out of a recent gaming experience.... It may have already been answered in another thread but I couldn't find anything that definitely stated the answer.... Having combed the ambiguous Advanced Rules, it seems to not give direction one way or another.
According to rules/rules clarification do primary, secondary, and tertiary gunnery attacks have to be directed at the same target? Or are they separate attacks implying separate targets may be chosen in the same manner as gunnery and torpedo attacks may choose separate targets?

The latter.

You can target each battery at whatever target you want.
Furthermore, you don't need to choose all your targets before you fire so you can see what the results are for one shot before deciding where to place the next. If you kill a destroyer with your tertiary guns that might change your mind as to a target for your secondaries.
Lastly, ships don't need to resolve all their attacks before moving onto another ship. You can fire all your ships' torpedoes, then jump around with gunnery attacks. In a big battle, you might want to mark which units have fired what guns so you don't miss any or accidentally double shoot a battery.

The idea of firing the main battery of a ship, evaluating the the results, then firing the secondary battery, evaluating the result, then firing the tirtiary battery seems Very Unrealistic, and Not historical at all.
In most other games, a ship must declare all of its attacks, b4 rollling any dice. In W@S, this means designating the target of mains, secondaries, tertiaries, and TTs b4 rolling any of these attacks. If the game rules don't read this way, then this would be a needed "House Rule".
Unless we give ships an ability from Star Fleet Battles called Aegis. This allowed firing some weapons, evaluating, firing other weapons at the same target,,,, etc.

Welcome to WAS
The above explanation is correct unless otherwise stated in an SA like "bristling with guns" all attacks can be at seperate or the same target and are declared individually.
