Winter Skirmish 2009 Game Summit-NormandyA few players from my FLGS and myself are attending this convention and will be running the AAM section. We have decided to do something special and create a D-Day +5-7 scenario to demonstrate AAM at its most tactical level. I have developed this basic scenario for us to play. The map(s) is from the EF map pack, the one with the hedgerows and the towns.
I will ofcourse play the part of the third empire.
Normandy Scenario
American Forces
150pts for assault force + Fuel Depot.
OBJECTIVE
Must destroy all or 130pts worth of German forces by turn 12, or completely control objective town for two entire turns.
Bonuses
Americans win initiative for the first two turns.
German Forces
100pts defensive garrison + Headquarters, 1x Pillbox, 2x Minefield, 2x Barbed wire, 2x Tank obstacle.
Objective
Must control objective by turn 12.
Bonuses
Artillery and other heavy weaponry (AT guns, AA guns, MGs, and mortars) are dug-in and receive +1/+1 defense and have cover. These units cannot move or relocate.
Special rules
On turn 3, if American forces have Line of Sight to the objective town, the American player can deploy 2x French Resistance Fighters in any town hex during that turn’s movement phase.
On turn 7, if Germans control(or partially control) the objective town, the German player may deploy 60pts worth of reinforcements from any side of the map except the American deployment side, and must not be deployed within 4 hexes of the American forces. Until such time, the German player will not reveal the nature of the reinforcements to the American player.
Due to allied air superiority, the Germans may not use aircraft.
If both the Americans and the Germans control the objective by the end of turn 12, the Germans win unless the American player has destroyed 130pts worth of German forces.
Once per game, the American player receives 2x P-51D Mustangs/Hawker Typhoons during the declared turn’s air assault phase for a single turn. These aircraft do not count towards the 150pts worth of American forces.

this is really nice! will try it out this week.
If i may say, from all the books i read about D-day, the allies had always Naval gun support. not sure how to translate this into AAM but i think its a must for any d-day scenario.

No, no, this is not D-Day but rather the fighting that occured in Normandy in the following week(s) after the landing.
