Anyone using 1/6000 scaleHello,
I saw another post where some are using GHQ (1/2400), anyone using 1/6000. I have some and have a source for many more.
Don't really have the time to model these days. With all the great cards being produced for models that do not exist I am thinking this might be an outlet for really large scale scenarios.
I currently have a 4'x8' board with 4" squares. Thinking about redoing it with 2" squares. You could definately fit a ton of ships on that size playing surface.
The nice thing is there are alot of other rule set possibilities for the 1/6000 as well.
Here is a few pics of my current board w/ islands and WAS minis:

Any thoughts?

Too Funny
Took some quick pics of the 1/6000 I do have. These came in a set with rules called "In Harm's way" Nice set a rules, but a bit more complex than WAS.
I placed the WAS Bismark and Hood in the first pic for scale comapison. FYI, the models come unpainted.
Bismark, Prinz Eugen, Graf Spee Hood, Prince of Whales, Exeter, Achilles, and Ajax:

Yeah, this scale is not for everyone. I love the WAS models, just wish there were more of them. For serious large scale engagements the 1/6000 work great. For what you lose in detail you gain in game ability. Just think how much game sapce you would have with 1-2" squares/hexes and the WAS rules. Besides you can get a entire class of ships for under $6.
This would be a stop gap measure for me to hold me over until WoTC finally gets more ships out. The one nice thing about this scale is storage you can fit entire navies in a cigar box.

Been busy adding to the fleets.
Here are some low quality pics done with my PDA. The basic idea is you can fit a heck of a lot more action in a smaller area. The map is 32"x40" with 2" sectors.
German fleets sorties (There are 20 BB/BC pictured along with 3 Pocket BB and 9 CA):

My digital camera is on loan when I get it back I will get some quality pics of the detail on these small models.

That is great. I assume these are for the DR project. the 1/6000 line would have all the models already available as opposed to thying to scratch build them in 1/1800.
Look forward to seeing them when done.
My project stalled with this deployment. I wish I had started earlier as they would ahve been great for where I am at for ease of storage.

What line of minis did you decide to go with?

Hallmark. I'll post pics when I finish all 30+ ships (next month). I've even made a half-page ruleset for wargaming with the specific ones. Independent of the DR project.

The thing is they make DE, subs and even torp boats in 1/6000 and you can even tell what they are from one class to the next.

Looking forward to it.
ND is right...I think some will be amazed at the detail when you see some quality pics.
I thought about 1/2400 GHQ, but compared with $6-14 a unit for GHQ I decided on the 1/6000 where you can buy an entire class of capital ships for less than $8, and all the major classes are represnted down to escorts and subs. I bought the entire QE class and R class RN BBs for like $6.00 for all 5 ships. Not all are the same either the Warspite and Valiant have differnent bridges as well as the R class some have the tripod mast and others the pole mast. Even the Repulse and Renown are different.
If you are not a stickler for detail in painting whole fleets can be produced in a day. I have seen some excellent looking units with just a base coat, ink and wash that look nice. Unfortunately I like to take a bit more time, so I have bags and bags waiting to be painted.

I just painted my 1/6000 wildcats in black. Here they are moving in formation to strafe a subchaser escorting a Vivaldi.
