There are some good links in the "Modeling 101" board on the old Avalon Hill forum. weedsrock2 Kriegsmarine Colors Vol. 1 I just purchased a new book by AJ-Press called "Kriegsmarine Colors Vol. 1". It is written in bilingual Polish (Polish publisher) and English. It covers the paint schemes for Kriegsmarine battleships. It is a beautiful book with fantastic color illustrations and some interesting details I have never seen anywhere else. It also includes a high quality color paint chip insert card of the colors used by the Kriegsmarine. The author is Miroslaw Skwiot, published in 2006, 88 pages. weedsrock2 Camouflage of the Royal Navy books I just purchased a four-book set called "Warship Perspectives" from WR Press, Inc. printed in 2000 on the camouflage of the Royal Navy. The four books in the series are: Camouflage Volume One: Royal Navy 1939-1941 Camouflage Volume Two: Royal Navy 1942 Camouflage Volume Three: Royal Navy 1943-1944 Camouflage Volume Four: Royal Navy: Supplemental All written by Alan Raven. Volume one has color paint chips of the colors used by the RN on the back cover. All four books have extensive line art illustrations of the specific camouflage schemes of a large number of Royal Navy ships. Most are in B&W, but there is a color section in the middle of each book. I can tell WotC is using these books because I am looking at the exact camouflage scheme used on the HMS Ajax miniature on page 42 of Volume one. It was the camo pattern she had in mid-1941 according to the book. When I look at the mini it is actually pretty impressive what the manufacturer was able to do on an automated line. It is a very intricate pattern although made a little easier being only one color (black on gray). Royal Navy ships all used unique camouflage designs, and they were changing them constantly throughout the war. I think these books are a fantastic resource if you want to do repaints. These are a couple of sites that have some free downloads for 3D card stock mods you can use for fillers including buildings and bunkers. You may have to experiment with what per cent to print them at on regular paper before attempting to print on card stock to get sizes that will look realistic with your A&AM minis. cealigh the MadScot Here is a link to a local resin casting supplier... Their phone # is: (520) 886-8051.  This is a home based operation and they do ship outside of Tucson AZ.  Aside from the base kit they can also re-supply you with what ever you need, Resin parts A and B, RTV rubber base and Catalyst, etc.  Best to call for prices on refills. I have one of their kits that I purchased over 10years ago.  The RTV rubber is still viable and my part B resin is also viable but the Catalyst and Part A are shot.  I'm thinkin of making moulds of some of the ships I currently have and casting off resin copies.  This way if I want to do some re-modelling I can do it from the resin copies instead of the originals.  For those of you talented types that can sculpt, this would be a good way for you to replicate those nice sculpts of yours into "Vast Quantities" should you be so inclined. weedsrock2 Vallejo matches to Royal Navy colors Here is an excellent link with a list of Vallejo paint color matches to Royal Navy colors used in WWII. http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=117190 MrKen Some of you WaS guys are building these incredible ships.  I am addicted to the posts where you have been giving step by step instructions on how you build these incredible works of miniature art.   After the incredible visual feast of the past few weeks I am beginning to wonder what do you use and where do you find these items used in the building of these ships.  It may be easy enough to find and pick up the materials if I knew what they were. How about some of you masters give a master list of products and items used and their name and your suppliers.  As riveted as I am I can't believe I am the only one who would like to give this a go.  Even though I don't play the game I would like to see what i could do.  I would be pretty proud to put a few of those capital ships up on one of my shelves. Evergreen plastics, Plastruct, Styrene plastic sheets, rods, square rod, round rod etc.   As fer how, well I followed Cmdr_Clint sensei way of scratch building.  Layering of the sheets to build up the hull.  It helps if you have the dimensions, schematic, images etc of what it is you wish to build. When I made my Hornet I used a combination of the WAS Enterprise mini and blueprints from blueprints.com and ship dimension stats from several internet resources. cealigh the MadScot 1/600 scale aircraft source.... I picked up a copy of Wargames illustrated today.  Number 251 Sept 08 issue.  In it I found an advert for these folks: http://www.tumblingdiceuk.com/ They make other things also, but what I found interesting was their selection of 1/600 scale aircraft from WW1 thru moderns.  The aircraft look kinda odd but you can tell what it is supposed to be.  They have in their selection carrier and land based aircraft.  Pics are limited and not very good quality on their webpage. They are a UK based company, so all of their prices are listed in Britsh Pounds. I would also recommend picking up a copy of Wargames Illustrated on a regular basis as well.  There is a lot of top notch work pictured in the mag.  I get some of my inspiration and ideas from it.  it is also a great resource for finding that paint scheme or to answer that question "Ok how is that such and such supposed to look?"   Yes there are adverts but they are also great resources for locating that hard to find whachahoozit. woodgateski Question when ordering sheets, what thickness is recommended for hulls and flight decks? weedsrock2 woodgateski wrote: Question when ordering sheets, what thickness is recommended for hulls and flight decks? Remember-OWS- If some of you wanted to re-base any mini, I would suggest the 2 next product for consideration. Since I was a FOW player until recently (I play COH at this moment, with my FOW mini and AAM tanks) I use to base my mini with DAP DryDEX mixed with Woodland Scenic Earth Undercoat C1229. I still use this product for my trees settings. It start pink and turn white when dry... useful. Now I have just discover a new product.
