Good game. All of those bombers were worrisome.
|
Gross Admiral Raeder
|
One game isn't enough to Judge them, (Halifax) But All they are good for is attacking Armour 3-4 Ships. And even then it is proving to be Difficult.
Although their Survivability is Good

so, one loss and you are done? Single elimination for a tournament?
With this few players, let's have an actual league with a W/L record. Let's get some value for all of the money we've spent... oh sorry, forgot that it was free.
I would be willing to set it up. And if it was a game per week, everyone would have ample time to complete the games. And you could make arrangements to play them in person if you would prefer. (I would play Aquarius in person; he is just too lucky on the computer. He has hit 5 out of his last 7 torp shots and he is averaging a 6 about every 4.45 rolls over our last 3 games.) Obviously, you would find that most people would continue to play on line. But maybe it would give me extra incentive to contact you when I came up there for a Packers' game.
Would you be allowed to charge a combination deposit/entry fee to ensure people would play their games?

I dont think it is a single-elimination tournament, if you loose then you go into the one loss bracket of play and so on.

packertim-
Right, you don't lose and that's it, you lose the units from that game but continue on through the tournament with a small fleet.
I think that's why GAR did a 50 point match to start so no one would lose a 1/4 of his fleet or more. You still have 350+ points and your admiral.
Rumor has it the next match will be 75 points so even if you lose some stuff in games 1-3, you likely can continue with a good fleet, especially as an American fleet player.
Hell, you could lose 250 points and as long as you still have some subs and Hellcats, you'll be competitve. Aquarius just got insanely lucky with the torpedo dice, it happens. Seems that happened in our game as well, IJN vs US 100 pointer, you got 5 out of 10 torpedos that game.

I had not seen the brackets to see if the "consolation" bracket ended up playing the undefeated bracket and having to win twice (Like the College World Series)
|
Task Force 57
|
yup... its not elimination, just the ships that are sunk each match dont come back, lovely attrition!
... so its a long grind tourney, which is cool if your playing a IJN/USN fleet that lost its Yamato/Iowa in a previous match! (not that Im praying for that mind you... but its a nice thought for a kriegsmarine fleet!).

Oh, I was under the impression that only the winners bracket carried over. That the losers bracket started fresh. So I did not see how they could meet again down the road. I won't worry about, and just concentrate on picking a better fleet next time. And you are right! You never know how good/bad your luck can be. I saw a person defending with 1 die in Risk roll 9 straight 6's one time. And one game I did better than that 5/10. I hit 10 out of 16 torps. Not much a person can dowhen it turns.

Once your surface fleet is gone i believe it is game over anyway, thats why i thought it was a risk in taking 1 boat.

Double elimination Tourney
Victory in the first rd is acheived at 75 VP's
He only had 72, thats why we kept Playing. This is where retreating comes in.
If you lose a Game in the Winners Bracket, you move to the 1 loss Bracket. If you lose in this Bracket, You are done for the rest of Tourney.
Leagues will start as soon as Rumble is over, I promise.
That is exactly the reason why We started with Small fleets. So you don't lose a 1/4 of your Fleet in the first rd. If you make it to the Finals, Your looking at 6-7 Games Played with only 400 pts to pick from.
So it is Possible that you could be playing a 150 pt match but only have 100 pts worth of units Left as an Example. Timing and Survival is Key for units in this tourny.
Next rd will be a 75pt Match
The map will have 3 Objectives
Yes the 1 loss Bracket gets to play the no loss Bracket and need to win twice in Finals "winners 1 time"
The Weakest "winner" plays the "Strongest" Loser. Total Points Lost from Unit Loss. A Strong "loser" has not lost Many Units pt wise. A Weak Winner is the player Who has Lost the Most Points Unit wise.
