BracketingWas reading a thread in the modeling forum:
http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/sutra26684.php#26684
I thought of this for a house rule.
Bracketing-when a unit is fired upon and is missed by 1 success place a place marker next to it to indicated the ship is bracketed (surface gunnery only). Bracket markers do not stack
Effects of Bracketing- Once a ship is bracketed reduce it's move by one the next turn to simulate evasive manuerving.
Effects on the game this could slow opponents advance on objectives and add a new twist.
Thoughts?

not a bad idea at all. It makes sense, but maybe only on range three and longer shots

In order to make it harder to be bracketed I presume. I don't know maybe everything except range 0. At range 1 yoou could be 5-10k yrds distance.
I think it adds a certain historical flavor and makes good use of the markers Jesse designed.

Not yet, just came up with it today when I was looking at the splash markers in the modeling forum.

Worth trying out.
all surface gun attacks or just main guns?

And which main guns?
Because you don't want destroyer gunnery slowing down cruisers, or cruisers slowing down battleships, do you?

Why would a 'bracket' slow a ship down more than a hit? Seems like both situations should be accompanied by a reduction in speed.

Bracketing seems like it should offer more of a gunnery advantage then a movement one. I'd say more like the next time the ship that bracketed the other fires on the same target with the same guns it gets to reroll ones or something similar. This better illustrates the effect bracketing had on firing solutions.

I think sometime's we add too much and over complicate the game, it's not something that need's to be changed. If we over do it we might as well write whole new rule's and make a new game!!
