What are you going up against? US? UK? USSR (for fun)?
Field Marshal PF

UK and commonwealth. For fun and kicks.
TorontoBizz

The U.K. eh? You might want to consider some good AT units, I would be expecting a Matilda. Even the Valentine has pretty good defence. Is the Valentine available in 1941? I'm at work don't have my cards on me. I guess I could use the on-line cards but internet is slow here.
Field Marshal PF

The elite crew of the Mk. IV D can handle anything the british have in 1941.
Steel_Panther

Can you switch out some Italian infantry and a Panzer III for another Elite Pz. IV? Why would you have weak Italian rifles, when you can have Whermact vets?
Field Marshal PF

The Italians are normal infantry now.
TorontoBizz

Elite Panzer 4 vs. Matilda

I'd put my money on the Matilda and at only 13 points your opponent could field 2 or 3 of them.
Field Marshal PF

Don't forget the Matildas are slow and can be quickly overrun and encircled.

Over running and encircling, that's how to defeat the King Tiger.

Do you really need the Italian units? Couldn't you get a Brumbar, or some 81mm mortars instead? Panzergreniders, with some VW's?
Field Marshal PF

No Brummbars in 1941, the Italians are for flavour, they could very well be Kar 98s.

Ah... my mistake. Well, what about some Blackshirts with the Ruthless SA?

Unless accompanied by infantry. It is an infantry tank after all. They'll have an easy time keeping up with the tank (inspiring LT) and keep your infantry off of it.

An other 1941 British weapon that could give you a hard time is the Bofors.

Question for you Field Marshal PF, do you think posting your builds on line is giving your opponent a look at your plans? Do you know if he checks this site?
Eric Marino

It's the risk he takes for asking for advice.
TorontoBizz

What about taking an 88? You could park it at one end of the map and pick off his armour and infantry, while being out of range.

If I was the UK player, I would take 2 Matildas, 1 Valentine, 1 Bofors, 1 Vickers (maybe 2), Inspiring LT, Bren x 2, SMLE guys make up the rest of the points. Or somehting along those lines.
Field Marshal PF

I just want to her people's opinion on my build, sometimes they see what I can't. And I'm quite sure they are unaware of this site.

Don't like the 88's all that much in this game... Too vulnerable to paratroopers and fast attack units weaving in and out of cover. For 19 points I'd would go with a StUG III and have some points left over to spend on a solider.
Steel_Panther

The Stug III Ds have always worked good for me, the sherman of the Axis, good AV and AT. It may not to do horribly against that Valentine
Field Marshal PF

What i'm going into battle with;

1x SS-Haupsturmfuhrer(7pts)
3x Mauser Kar 98k(9pts)
2x Wehrmacht Veteran Infantrymen(10pts)
3x Panzer III Ausf. F(39pts)
1x StuG III Ausf. D(15pts)
1x Elite Panzer IV Ausf. D(18pts)
1x Carro Armato M13/40(12pts)

Good Luck!

Yes, please tell us. Always like to read your battle reports Field Marshal PF.
Field Marshal PF

Actually guys it was a complete british cake-walk.

Their build was something like this.

1x Matilda II
1x Valentine I
1x M3 Stuart
Insiping Lt
3x Gurkhas
3x Candian inf
2x Bren
1x Bofors

So my armour attempts to swarm him early on and take out their Matilda, of six attacks, I get nothing, and he gets 1 damaged and 2 disrupted. His infantry tally-ho next turn and finish off those tanks and all I have left is 2x Panzer III and the M13/40. Next turn I ram 1 Panzer III for a kamikaze 10 dice shot and get the Valentine disrupted but the other Panzer III and the M13/40 get disrupted, next turn tally ho again and I only have my infantry. That was pretty much it. One of the few times that I played AAM and didn't have fun lol.

I managed to kill 2x Gurkas and 1x Canadian Inf.

Bummer, You couldn't just hang back and pluck at him with the StUG?
TorontoBizz

Sorry to hear you lost, Field Marshal PF. I hate to say but if you read my comments I kinda predicted this happening. The Matilda + Valentine is a good combo. The 88 would have given you something to hit those tanks with.
Shank77

Can't win them all, but we can have fun trying. Thanks for the battle report.

Pluck a 6 def Matilda long range with 8 dice?
88

Oh yeah that's right.... you went with a StUG D and not a StUG G.... My bad.
Field Marshal PF

The G is 1943, otherwise I would have brought a platoon and cleaned house.
