Need ideas for three player senariosHi,
Our fourth member of our group has to work away for a few months and we need some ideas on how to play with three players. I couldn't see any forum topic on the list that fit.
Currently we play 400pt games. Often with three players the axis will be played by one person at 400 pts and allies are played by the two others 200 pts each. The winner occupies the objective.
We also play a chit game where three players play independently and must occupy victory hexes placed around the board. We count victory hex points every turn until turn 7. The winner has the most points.
We are getting bored of these!!!!!
Other than these I have no more ideas???
Anyone have any senarios for us.

When in a group of three, we are playing usually Africa, with the Axis side splitted on Italians and Germans.
You can also use one player as a "game master", moving partisans, prisoners or some other neutral units (like a convoy of fleeing civilians on the road in France 1940).
Or let him command your airforce/infantry.

I've played where one player is in the middle of the map defending, and the other two players attack from the let and right. If the defender has 100 points, each attacker has 50.

this reminds me of an old fashioned paper wargame "Battle for germany" that could be played up to 3 or 4 players.
3players had germany in the middle and soviet -allies coming from east and west.

I've done these scenarios with Toronto Bizz and I think with some tweaking they work pretty well. The most conventional way to work a three player scenario is to balance out a 2 v 1, but free for alls are possible (albeit ahistorical as human being have a habit of grouping into one side or another in a fight). The trick is that not all players will be equidistant from each other in the three player game, so the one in the middle needs a few more points than the other two. Set up an objective somewhere between the three and have at it. Order of play can be determined simply be allowing the person who wins initiative choosing whether they want to go 1st, 2nd or 3rd, followed by the next highest player and so on.

Or a US/Brit vs. German, where it's a mini reenactment of Patton vs. Monty.
German Victory: Defeat American and British forces.
American Victory: Germans defeated, plus beat British VP score by 25%.
British Victory: Germans defeated, plus beat American VP score by 25%.
Anything other than one of these three conditions = Draw.
Possibly a Western vs. German vs. Soviets "sandwich" might work as well...
