Moving a sandbagged machine gun team?I have a question regarding the sandbagged machinegun team from the D Day set and the Sd kfz 251. I like the sandbagged mg team because it has one more defensive point than a regular MG42 team, but it can't move. Once I get an MG42 to a position I like I don't usually have to move it, but the problem is getting a sandbagged one into that position. Units may load and unload from a unit with the transport ability during the movement phase, would this mean that the action of loading or unloading is a movement? Basically, may the sandbagged mg team (0 move) be transported?

You can't move or transport a sandbagged MG team. You place it in a hex at the beginning of the game and it stays there.

I've thought about an HR that would let you replace the Sandbagged MG42/Entrenched AT Gun with their non-"Dug In" counterparts in midgame, but not go the reverse...
NO, you can't get have your cake and eat it too... until we get a Chronosphere.

Sorry about the bump, but here's a further question:
My understanding is that you may start the game with an 88 on a unit with "Gun Transport." You can then drive the 88 to where you want it, and then unload it, where it stays for the rest of the game. (http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about1436.html)
Why wouldn't the same hold for the Sandbagged Machine Gun team? Couldn't you start the game with the sandbagged MG loaded on a halftrack, and then once you drop it off then it's stuck there for ever amen?

reHmmm. good guestion. I guess because one could envision an ATG being towed into position, where a truck, halftrack would have to move all the sandbags, the men, and the machine-gun. The sandbags are usually filled once the defensive position has been selected. After that I'm digging in and not leaving unless ABSOLUTELY necessary!
I'm not sure if anyone is following this....I think I'm doing a bad job describing this.....

Yeah, I imagine that it wouldn't make sense from the "reality" perspective, but I imagine that if the rules allow 88s to be deployed in a transport, it would be odd if Sandbagged MGs weren't!
A loophole, then? Oooh, it'll make me feel guilty if I use it.

My only thought with this is the 88 has heavy gun, and is considered a vehicle for stacking purposes, so how can it be transported?

The deal with 88s and transport (or any other 'Large Gun' and transport as such)
Consider all Gun Transports and Trucks to have an SA called Limber
Limber: This unit can enter play loaded with a Soldier-Artillery Unit with the "Large Gun" SA. Since unloading would break stacking rules, this unit dismounts into any adjacent hex to the Transport.
----------------------------------
A sandbagged machine-gun team, cannot realistically have anything transport it into play, because, while unlike the 88 which simply has no speed, it also has "Dug In" which prevents it from moving, ever. Think about the time frame in play, most of these battles are supposed to last along the lines of 10 minutes, how long would it take the average Machine Gun team to fully unload a "prepared position" of sandbags, along with what appears to be a nest? Longer than would be convenient for this game, thats for sure. No, once a SBMGT is in position, it cannot be moved, it cannot be transported, and its stuck.
