help with campaign ideasas the title states myself and some friends were thinking of starting a campaign and had come up with some ideas that we really liked but was unsure if you guys had already tested some of them, and if you had some idea's that would lend themselves to my game groups idea's. so here is what we thought of at this time.
1: large tactical map (probably of pacific) broken down into smaller sectors, for fleet movement and the like
2: all of the axis/allies are available (cause some people just really like playing Germany, Italy) even tho at this time it will most likely taking place in pacific
3: have historical limits enforced, now due to the fact that some of them really want to see 2 Tirpitz out there cause its just better then the Bismark (which I'm against but what ever the group agrees to is fine but you can still only have 2 Bismark class ships on the board)
4: trade routes/convoys, ok as this states we would have it set up so that lets say japan takes wake island for X number of points they could gain Y number of points for it if they added a convoy to it. now that means if they don't add escorts to said convoy it is a siting duck.
5: have 5 different types of battle results Major defeat, Minor defeat, draw, minor victory, major victory. and possibly give them points based on out comes and what the make up of each fleet was.
6: allow repairs to all ships at sea after any battle but only 1 point of repair each complete turn, but never allow them to fully repair without going to port. (we aren't sure on point cost to repair a ship at port yet so any ideas would be great)
7: fleet's will probably be strictly one nation other than maybe the Germans/french/Italians or the British/dutch/Canadians/french, but U.S and Japan will be alone by themselves.
8:map size....unsure at this point cause we normally play on a 4ft by 6ft table at our FLGS
Okay so now for the things unsure of or that they would be disagreements on or could be.
1:points per island chain
2: how many starting ports (this one we will probably just go with historical limits on this one to start the game then allow them to be upgraded)
3:the convoys. now we all know the scenario in the back of the WaS manual the defender can pretty much never win. so we weren't sure if/ how we would play that.
4:starting time,i.e what year. and if we are going to put historical time limits on them as in there induction dates, cause we have a guy that refuses to play if there's historical time limits like that cause he wants to be the big cheese (but in his defense he normal doesn't play the U.S)
5: starting Points for each major power (not including France/dutch as a major power at this time, unless someone can convince us otherwise.)
6: since at this time we are thinking of the pacific for the area's theater...where to put Italy and Germany, if some one wants to play them.
7: if we should go FFA or stay with the true A&A alliances.
i think that's it for now so if you have any ideas or need something cleared up just ask. Cause i think this could be really fun and interesting for us on my end and if it ends up being really good for you guys out there too if you guys did something like this too.
P.S this is where to post these questions right cause only place i could see it fitting if not please move to where it needs to be.
