Τυφέκιον Μάνλιχερ
is
Mannlicher-Schönauer

This is not exactly the same Mannlicher as the Dutch used, by the way.
It has the same calliber, but they attribute it with far better range.

I just put it in Greek to freak out Buzzkill.

How did you get the Greek font?

I had to save it from Word into Paint and then Photobucket.
Angel of Death

Copy paste from wiki Smile
It's ascii.. I checked.

Thanks.

My kid has the Spionic font in Word so he can do his homework, but I can't get it to work here.
Angel of Death

You cannot use most special fonts here, as they require the other party to have them installed as well.

|| testing 1 2 3 omgbbq || could work for you, but I dont see anything.  (between the brackets I used the [ font = Spionic ] [ /font ] html commands)

Ascii works for everyone though, in this crude html based environment Razz

I got a minute or two, so I'll comment on as many as I can.

I think this should be called

Greek Riflemen or Greek Mannlicher 1903 Riflemen

The stats look ok, but I don't like the S.A. I think that Fury represents them better. They didn't have any particular ability or any particular animosity against the Italians (they would have against the Bulgarians and the Turks, their traditional enemy since Byzantine times). They performed equally well or equally badly against Germans, Albanians and Bulgarians the same year. Also, CA 2 is too low. They disabled over 20 Italian tanks with close assault and captured many more in 1940-41. I think that CA 2 is too low for any unit, because it's below the minimum successes needed to damage an enemy tank, right? Also, I assume that close assault is against the side armor, since we have decided to use the side armor for same hex attacks.

I thought we were going to use side armor as well, but then someone wanted the CA down to 4 for frontline units and 3 for reservists.  We might want to use rear armor for Close Assault (make it really, really close assault with grenades and shooting through visors and such), then not give CA to Pzfausts and Bazookas, et al.

WoTC's Fury is too powerful and too ubiquitous.  They will get a boost from their commanders so I don't want to make them too strong now or else the commanders won't mean as much.

I put "riflemen" in the titles.  The effect alternates among helpful, silly and redundant.

What's wrong with the Greek letters for the title?  I mean, jeez, even my 15 year-old kid can read it.

Success!

Hey, I lived in Greece for 4 years, and I am as excited as the next guy about Greek units, but the name needs to mean something to the players with having to go to babelfish. For all I know that could say Lamb Souvlaki with Tzatziki, and although very tasty, not a great combat unit. I think the names need to be in English.

BTW, thanks for picking up the slack on the cards AoD, work has been killing me. I will be glad when the inauguration is over so things calm down!
Sharpe

The name will be in Roman letters when we finish, BK.  I was just fooling around.  Staring at these things drives me batty.

Besides, I once had a lamb souvlaki do a Close Assault 6 on my small intestine.

It's "Y1903/14/27"
Angel of Death

Fixed. It's a U in your opening post Smile

The Greeks used the underpowered 6.5 mm Mannlicher too. Why don't the recieve INFERIOR AMMUNITION--When this unit makes a Defensive Fire attack, it gets -1 Attack Die.?
Amandil

Good question!  Two SAs (plus CA) would be even more fun, wouldn't it?  "Aera" and "Inferior Ammunition"
