Grand Scenario - Simple Mod

I talk often of the Grand Scenario, and have yet to think of a way to actually write its rules...

However, I have thought of a few things that can be done to the game to make them more like teh Grand Scenario. Here they are.


1 - Multiple battles
Make 2 or 3 fleets, and have them fight in a row, in order to represent the scouting force, main fleet, and back up, etc etc.

2 - Carry over damage
Ships don't just go POOF, 100% health after every battle.  After the first battle, anything damaged remains as such.   This seems logical, but until you try it, you won't believe how annoying it can be.  All units become threats because even though it may be destroyed, your unit can get damaged in the process.  You will need to make some tough choices knowing that you will be fighting heavier units later on.

(my games often have crippled and heavily damaged ships withdrawing back to base...in te next scenario i'm to post, you will actually see it)

3 - Odd music playing.
Mood is everything when playing games.  I have a vast collection and find that when I play music it changes the pace of battle.  Play faster dance music for an air assult, kids songs when you're playing with DD's and full percussion for BB's.  does't matter what, just play music.

Hey, Rengokuy!

I've been thinking about your Grand Scenario, and the big picture it provides.  The Allies don't seem so over-powered when they're all spread out amongst the different theaters, trying to protect their shipping lanes.

In my world, I've been allowing Axis fleets to have two land airbases instead of one when I play in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, or Western Pacific.  With few Allied land airbases in those areas, the Allied reliance on Carriers makes a lot more sense.

Do your Commanders take their own Fleets when you assign them to an area, or do they use whatever units you've assigned to them, or how does that work?
