Experimental SU 150 pt buildTomorrow I am playing a 150 point battle against a friend of mine. As I have played some games before with him I have an idea of the kind of units he likes to field so I expect a multinational axis build based on spotters and indirect fire (howitzers, wespe/hummel, spotters, romanian officer,...) with some PzIV-F2s or StuG-Gs and supported by italian infantry and probably one or two fast units.
This is what I am going to field:
3 x IL-10 Sturmovich - 63
1 x ZIS-5 3 ton - 4
2 x Commissar - 10
2 x 82 mm PM-37 Mortar - 22
2 x Red Army Forward Ovserver - 12
3 x Maxim M1910 MG - 21
1 x 76.2mm Model 1942 - 9
3 x Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 - 9
This time I have decided to field a soviet build that I think can counter the one I expect, of course this could be awfully wrong if he did use other units, but that is not very likely. Any suggestions about it?

looks low on armor, could get killed if he brings 251s with a TON of MGs

anti-infantry tanks would eat that alive

I'd say take off the some of those IL-10's and the 76mm, go with a KV-1, a SU-152, or add some T-34's. or... just go complete infantry and add some Cossack Cavalrymen, spread out, and charge the mortar teams and officers!

Well, it finally turned out to work, even though the army I faced was not as expected, insted of germans it was an all italian build with 7 tanks. Only two of them and one blackshirts made it to the end of the game, as for me I lost less than 60 points (including one IL-10 in turn one). But things could have turned very bad.
Needless to say I will never ever try it again.

You ALWAYS need some type of armored support
