Convoi scenarioHi, lately we play a lot of convoy scenario's. We play 100 point fleets. One side has to bring 5 transport ships (with SS Jeremiah o'Brien values, not included in the 100 points) in safety in 15 turns. The other side has to sink them. (page 34 of the advanced rules book).
Although we find the convoy scenario fun to play, it seems that the attacker always wins. Up till now the convoi has never reached safety.
My questions are:
- have you got the same experience (attacker always wins in this scenario)
- do you have any tips or tricks for the convoy defender? (we do use the rules updates and clarifications)
Like to hear from you.
with kind regards,

There are also fleet build suggestions for convoy's, along with suggestions for house rules, that may be a help in the fleet build forum.

Giving the merchant vessels the armor/vital/hull stats from the Nordmark would do some balancing.(we play it with full nordmark stats)

I don't know if you play with aircraft or not but if you make a rule banning aircraft it frees up the escorts so they don't have to provide AA.

In short, no you're not alone, the convoy missions all but impossible without a mod.

It's clear to me the convoy scenario is unbalanced and all but impossible to win for the defender.
I will consider some house rules. The suggestions made here sound good:
- play with Nordmark stats (making the transports stronger)
- use more convoy ships of which only one has to arrive in safety, making the scenario easier to win
- banning aircraft (which makes it easier for the escorts)
Thanks for your response.

The last time I played a convoy I had used u-boats to escort the cargo ships. It sucks agienst air attacks but its great agenst surface and sub forces.
