Club South Pacific

Location: The Southwest Pacific Ocean. It is a tumultuous time and place...

About Us:

The Southwest Pacific Theatre of WWII featured the biggest and most intense fleet battles in modern history. Great air raids, battleship on battleship showdowns, epic last stands, fierce island landings, and more action then you could shake two sticks at are the features of this action-packed theatre.

This club is for the fans of the furious action of the Southwest Pacific Theatre, including such notable battles as Coral Sea, Java, Guadalcanal, and Leyte. Our philosophy is to encourage active participation in all club activities as well as any forumini happenings, including painting competitions, tournaments, challenges, and general participation. Above all, our member's must have the utmost in honor and sportsmanship in order to promote and grow our hobby of WWII Naval Battles.

Club Rules:

Fleet builds are based on the historical actions of our theatre. Club members are allowed to use any of the following fleet builds in League games and Club matches. Note that the fleets may not be mixed-and-matched, if you choose a fleet you must abide by all restrictions in the fleet entry. Unless a specific quantity is noted (for example, x4 means only 4 copies of that unit may be used), you are allowed unlimited copies of that unit. Each unit is only allowed 1 copy if it is followed by an asterisk (*). These restrictions will be revisited and revised with the release of each set.

All Fleets:

All fleets are allowed to use the Heavy Shore Battery in any number, Axis or Allied. Note that if playing by Historical Limits, the preliminary limit is 1 HSB.

Allies:

US - All USN units are allowed, except for those on the following Restricted list: USS Arizona, USS Nevada, USS Alaska, and USS Richmond.

Optionally, any USN fleet can include one HMS Victorious as the "USS Robin".

Additionally, US builds may include any number of Australian and New Zealand units, but may only have 1 unit per 50 points. So in a 200 point standard match, you can have a maximum of 4 Australian/NZ units. Additionally, you may only have maximum of 1 HMAS Arunta per 3 Australian/NZ units. So in a 150 point match you may include 3 maximum Australian units, only 1 of which may be Arunta. There is a maximum of 3 Arunta's, no matter the size of fleet.

UK - Only units from the 1944/45 British Pacific Fleet may be used. If you have your opponent's permission, you may use the forumini navies cards for the actual sister-ships and not-yet-printed ships. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Pacific_Fleet for a breakdown.
WotC units:
BB: HMS King George V (maximum of 4), and Richelieu only.
CV: HMS Illustrious, HMS Victorious, HMS Eagle, and HMS Fencer only. Note that there is a maximum of 4 Illustrious class CV's allowed, in any mixture (ie - 4 Illustrious; 2 Illustrious & 1 Victorious; etc, etc).
CA/CL: HMS Belfast, HMS Kent, HMS Euryalus, and HMCS Uganda only.
DD/DE: All RN and RAN units allowed.
SS/Others: HMS Truculent and Vospers MTB are allowed.
Aircraft: Barracuda, TBF-1 Avenger, Hellcat, Corsair, P-40, Martlet, Sunderland, & PBY only.

Optionally you may take the 1941 Force Z fleet of HMS Repulse*, HMS Prince of Wales*, HMCS St. Laurent x3, and HMAS Nizam* covered by Buffalo fighters. I wouldn't recommend it, though!

ABDA - You may only take the historical ABDA Command ships in an ABDA fleet. Allowed units are:
CA/CL: USS Houston*, HMS Exeter*, HMAS Sydney (x2), USS Boise*, USS Richmond*, De Ruyter*
DD: HMCS St. Laurent, HMS Javelin, Van Galen, HMS Saumarez, Witte de With, USS Bagley
SS: S-37, Zvaardvisch
Aircraft: Buffalo, PBY, Sunderland
Additionally, you may use the forumini navies cards for Tromp*, Java*, and the Clemson-class US DD with your opponent's prior permission.

As an option, an ABDA fleet player may incorporate ABDA early for a little fantasy play (pre-Force Z sinking) by taking over the British Eastern Fleet's Singapore Squadron and include: HMS Prince of Wales*, HMS Repulse*, ORP Dragon (x3), and HMAS Nizam as well as the Sunderland, Beaufighter, Swordfish, and Sea Hurricane. This is the ZABDA Option Fleet.

Russia - You may only play the Russian Pacific Fleet as the Allied attacker in Convoy scenarios. It may only consist of the following units: Gromkiy and S-13.

Axis:

IJN - You may use any Japanese unit, except for those on the following Restricted list: Agaki, Kaga, Soryu.

Germany/Italy - You may only use the following units as the Axis Attacker in a Convoy scenarios only: Atlantis, U510, U66, Ambra, and Leonardo da Vinci. You may only have 1 Italian unit per 50 points, so for example in a 100 point attacker fleet, only 2 units can be Italian.

Other notes: Club South Pacific players may never use units from the following countries: Greece and Sweden.

Also, we are currently working up allowable small fleets for France and Thailand. These are a work in progress.

Membership:

Club South Pacific is now accepting applications for membership. To become a member of Club SoPac, simply post in this thread or send a Private Message to P71. Once accepted, you will need to change your "My Theatre Club" section of your Profile to "ClubSouthPacific", which will automatically display our Club Avatar below your personal Avatar on the left-hand side of the screen.

Now for the point system:
1 point for competing in a club match
1 point for participating in a painting competition
1 point for participating in a tournament
1 point for participating in any other Official Clubhouse activity
1 point for every 5 Club Match victories
5 points for winning a tournament or painting competition category
5 points for winning the most matches in the League season for Club SoPac

Additionally, points may be doled out by the Staff for special circumstances.

A medal & ribbon award system is currently a work in progress.
