Changing Facing & Defensive FireDoes changing your vehicle's facing count as a movement that would trigger defensive fire? (Changing facing apparently counts as a movement, such that you can't change facing and attack in the same assault phase. So it's a 'movement,' but it isn't from one adjacent hex into another adjacent hex...)

No. Defensive Fire is only triggered by moving from one hex to another.

I have had these problems in my games, seems as if the letter of the law counts more than the spirit of the law... Such as 3 6s againsed a 5 def tank by a flamethrower = destroyed tank.

It's far easier for a group of people to read the letter of the law than to agree on its spirit.
Are you going to join us Sunday at 11 am?

Too true. Anyway, thanks for the clarification!
This way, it makes even more sense to go second -- because you can set up on a tanks rear after it's movement phase, meaning in the assault phase it can't both change facing and shoot.
