Busted carrier's planes

I have been around for a month and a half in the land minis section, but I'm brand new to WAS, and I have a question. What happens to planes based on a carrier if the carrier is destroyed. Are the planes considered ditched in the ocean, or can they fly to the land base at the end of the turn.

You roll a die for each of them.  On a 1 they go down with the ship.  If they survive they can divert to other ships or the land airbase (provided you still have room for them).

ok, thanks

Hi Swarbs,

Is the dice for each one of the planes based on the carrier or is it suppose to for each unit type ?

My interpretations is that if you have 3 FIGHTERS in the carrier, you choose 1 plane per unit type and roll a dice if that aircraft goes down with the carrier.

Thanks,

In the fleet set up you have to assign which planes belong to the carrier and put the stat cards together in one pile. If the Carrier is lost you have to made the save roll for each plane that is remaining in the game and was assigned to the carrier.

during the air return step the arrangement of the assigned planes may be changed after the save roll step.

Yep, Green Archer, your interpretation sounds to me like it was correct for the original rules, but Lucky Y is correct about how the clarifications document says to play it.
