Exactly 300 points.
The obvious key to this build is deploying your ships in an arc around the Aoba to maximize the Aggressive Tactics SA and generate insane LL volleys.
The Akitsukis and A6M5s are there to ensure that your cruisers make it into the action. Plus, the Akitsukis will typically be held at range-3, a range at which they are as effective any other IJN destroyer.
Maneuvering the Oi (& Kitakami) takes some care. I think they will be happiest at ranges 6, 3 & 0. Range-6 is clear of everything but Warspite, and a Torpedo Run away from range-3. Which is the sweet spot with Aoba, a 50/50 LL hit! And if you can make it to range-3 without using the SA, then you are within striking distance of range-0 -- an incredible 5-die LL attack if you can keep the Aoba adjacent.
If you can avoid ER-5 attacks, then 5-2-0 works well, too, but hanging back at range-3 still may be your best bet.
Note that the screening Shigures are there to lay smoke to block the peering sight lines of ER attacks on your cruisers.
The Jills are mostly meant as an annoyance/distraction, but a timely Surprise Raid could yield devastating results.
As usual, this build lives or dies on sixes.
Cheers.

Hmm, interesting. Not a big ban of no BBs at 300 points, but your build definitely has possibilities.

Just remember that destroyers cannot be shoot at on extended range by any vessel, and BB just hit only on 6 if they shoot with their main battery at destroyers.

Thanks, it's definitely an experimental build. Hard to know how I feel about these units until I've actually played with them!
Once we find out the stats I'll work up a Nagato variant.

Yup, know that. Though the few times I've used BB guns on destroyers it hasn't mattered much.

With nine destroyers, a few are expendable. It's the cruisers that are key to this operation.

I see that too. Like you said we'll have to try it with the new units. I am certainly interested in giving it a go.

cutting of those Jills for more I-19 and set 1 Zekes is my suggestion.

Cut the range 1 torp aircraft? Not a chance.

No you should'nt do that, but he IS right you know, what is a IJN fleet without I-19's

Ordinarily I'd be tempted to agree, but he's got tons of destroyers and ASW aircraft so he doesn't really need them this once IF the torp roll work.

Odysseus jumped me in a game with a similar build last week. I had a North Carolina and a Baltimore, each paired with a Cleveland. His Aoba + Shigure and Oi + Akitsuki got within range, and the North Carolina went from one hit to sunk in the span of three torp shots.
