I was invited for a Battle of the Bulge fight. Breakthrough at the Meuse scenario (nice fiction, I thought !), no year limit.

I made myselves a US infantry army which would get reinforcement by the UK (North sector) by the time the Germans were trying to jump the Meuse.

Army List (300 points, several restrictions, Expanded rules fully used):

4 US Assault Detachments
---- Red Devil Capt., Thompson Gun., 75mm Recoilless, flamer, Jeep, M1 Garand
4 UK Antitank Detachments
---- Inspiring Lieutenant, 2x Bren Carrier, 2x 6 pounder AT, 2x SMLE
4 M5 Halftracks
4 Quad 50's
1 Resourceful Hero
1 Inspiring Hero

The basic idea of the army is to be mobile and powerful but not with tanks (tanks are expensive and I'm a cheapscate). The more advanced idea is to bring in superior firepower concentration by using a mass of mobile AT guns with shooting carriers. 12 AT guns ( 8 x 6 pounder , 4 x 75mm Recoilless ) on 12 carriers (M5's can actually 'fighting platform' use the 75mm Recoilless, making it a darn good ride). Backed up by 4 Marine Flamer jeeps and a lot of Tally Ho infantry. Plus 4 AA guns that can double as Machineguns.

So, how would you people asses this army in face of a 300 point German opponent (played on 3 maps) that doesn't know this is coming ? I thank you in advance for any input.

How about 17pdrs they are almost guaranteed to destroy every thing.

You are right : they are great weapons. But 17 pounders are Large (thus hard to move) , Expensive and not part of any platoon. As such I rarely field them.

The 'beauty' of the 300 point army I put up (at least, as I see it) is that it packs about 434 points (of some overpriced stuff) in a 300 point army. Especially the 75mm recoilless are brilliant weapons if they are cheap enough.

How about several howitzers with a couple of rangers as spotters and or a typhoon as a tank buster?
