2013 Theatre League Chat

A week in guys,
How's everyone going
hokiepastor

Enjoying it!  Had a bad first game against SeaAngel (completely the dice server's fault, he was fun to play against).  In the latter/decisive stages of another game against his CFS fleet.

I won't be starting any new games for a couple of weeks, however, as I will have limited internet access.  I'll reenter the waters, taking on all challengers, come December 15.
Doberman

Hopefully i can get enough games in for Pacific to qualify. Everybody is just too busy.

Maybe i can light a fire under the new members and get them going.
hokiepastor

I'll play you in the Pacific.  I've got a couple games going right now, but maybe next week?
Doberman

Sure. I'll mark you 1st on the list.

Are you hosting maps?

I can possibly do a little hosting but no guarantee.  Crazy work week with NYE, Birthday, daughters birthday then 3 jobs all start on the 6th for me.
Flakstruk

Bloody Hell,

Thought I'd sacrifice a ship or two to the dice god. Montana v Tsushima at R0,

Four Rounds to get the Vital, 8 salvos!

Dooomed, I'm dooooomed

Roughly half way through the season guys, lots if games and lots if good-sportsmanship. Give yourselves a pat on the back and a coldie!
SeaAngel

Woke up this AM and it was -10 C.  Isn't the the coldie I was expecting! Wink
Flakstruk

We're in the middle of summer but last week we were struggling to get above 20C, we didn't get a vortex tho
SeaAngel

Spend the night in your freezer, same thing.

Well guys, looks like CFS is going to take the Pretzels unless Pacific can stage a last minute charge,

CIO may eeek into third if Club Med can't get a last game on the board in the next week and bit.

It's been a fantastic turn out. CFS has played in over half the games played!

Hmmm... I'd say use the sister but perhaps put an extra level of class limit on it.  We could call it theater limits.

And of there are multiple sister options, we can figure put which is the best representative
bunyan

Ticat thanks for the great dea.  I just got rid of the Baltimore and Ramilies

Up until now, specific ships "dipping their keel" in a particular theater was only a requirement for cruisers, carriers and battleships. For DDs and subs, it only took "any ship in the class". The only danger I see in lifting that limitation is the national builds in some clubs could really start to look a lot alike.  For example, the RN and USN builds in Club Med are certainly constrained a bit by those limits, but if we lifted them and allowed the more general "any unit in the class" rule for large warships, I suspect the USN and RN fleets my club fields will start to look a lot more like those in Club Atlantic or Club Pacific.  Depending on your view, that may be OK.  Personally, while there are times I really wish I could use one of those "sisters", in the long run, I appreciate the need to get it done with a more constrained order of battle.  I'm not dead set against it, but I do think it will make some builds across the various clubs look a lot more alike, which might not be such a good thing.

I agree daddy.  Having a club that is constrained to "x" units is better than everyone having the same units.  So what do you do with the duke of York and KGV? They both were in the same theater, but since they are the same class? Couldn't you use 2 of the same ones?

Main reason I ask is that reason.  Is it class or is it specific ship? That decides what ship can be used in a club?

As it stands now, you could use 2 of the same ship.  In fact, becuase the KGVs don't have a class limit (there were 5 of them), you could use as many of any of them as you like.  The theater limits limit ship selection, but they are not directly linked to class limits.  Example: Massachusetts is the only ship of her class to operate in Club Med waters, so I can't us South Dakota or Alabama, but I could use 4 Mass.  A kludge perhaps, but it is what it is.

I'm all for constraints, but we don't want to get too restrictive either.  There are some clubs with smaller, less powerful order of battles already.  If we further tighten the class limits, some of the already weaker clubs will end up with an even bigger disadvantage in club-vs-club games.  As ahistorical as that can make a game every once in a while, I'm OK with the limits as they are.

- Specific ship matters for which BBs, CVs, CA/CLs can be used
- Class matters for DDs and Subs, not specific ship.

- Generic WOTC Class Limits apply when class limits are in use, unless players agree to use something more restrictive.
