200 Point March Of The Monsters (Cheese ahoy!)US Monster Fleet:
2x Missouri
2x Baltimore
2x Laffey
Only glaring weakness is weak ASW. AA is good because you can conceivably have a 9,8,7,5,5 covering one sector.
IJN Monster Fleet:
1x Yamato
1x Musashi
2x Nachi
2x Akitsuki
1x A6M2 Zero
This one is going to be a bit harder to run. ASW is very weak, and AA suffers heavily too. But the Yamato and Musashi provide some heavy hitting power, and if the LL swarms hit, that'll do some damage as well.

Both very strong builds. The one unfortunate thing about the American build is that it has very strong anti-air, but really, the only country that has air you really need to worry about is the U.S. anyway.
I may run these against each other sometime to try them out.

so what happens when the destroyers get sunk and the sea is filled with subs?

You hope for crappy torpedo rolls, kill their obviously weak surface fleet if they're sub-swarming, and take the objectives.
Killing the surface fleet and taking 2 objectives is enough to net you a win.
For the US fleet, they'd have to get 18 successful torpedo hits (6 for each Missouri, 3 for each Baltimore) before you A) sink their surface fleet and/or B) Grab all the objectives.

And that is probably near impossible. Best roll I had was 4 sixes on a normal roll which is 8 hull points for torps but this was normal. They counted for 8 of 14 successes on this roll.
