1st Battle of Narvik

The Germans landed their invasion force at Narvik from 10 destroyers. The destroyers were delayed from leaving by a combination of bad weather and lack of fuel. On the morning of 10 April 1940 Captain Warburton-Lee led his 2nd Destroyer Flotilla into Ofotfjord where he attacked the shipping in Narvik harbour. The British sank 2 German destroyers and damaged 3 others along with sinking several merchant ships.
As the British destroyers sailed back for open water they were attacked by 2 German forces. 2 destroyers coming out of Ballangen bay to their south and 3 more from Herjangsfjord to their North east. In the resultant battle the Germans sank the Hardy (killing Warburton-lee, who was subsequently awarded a posthumous VC) and Hunter before the rest of the British flotilla could escape.
Although the Germans had evened the score their relief was shortlived, as 3 days later the Royal Navy came back with an overwhelming force of the battleship HMS Warspite and 9 desrtoyers. The surviving 8 German destroyers, short on ammunition and fuel, were all either sunk or scuttled.

SET UP:
British Destroyers - Hardy and Hunter in K3. Havock and Hotspur in J4 and Hostile in I3.
German Destroyers - Georg Thiele (Z2) and Bernd Von Arnim (Z11) in F1 and Wolfgang Zenker (Z9), Erich Giese (Z12) and Erich Koellner (Z13) in K7.

The Germans automatically have the initiative on the 1st turn.
Use the WAS Hans Ludermann card for the Germans in F1 and the WAS Karl Galster card for the other 3 in K7.
The British destroyers use the G class old Forumini card modified as follows:
Torpedo strength is 1 at range 2 (my own personal opinion).
No make smoke SA (It wasn't used in this battle as far as I'm aware).
Give Hardy the Flotiila leader SA (See Jamaica WAS card).

For quick reference, stats are - Speed 2, Points 7, Armour 2, Vital 6, Hull 2, Main guns 4/4/3/-, Torps 2/2/1/-.
Flotilla leader - You get +1 initiative for each Destroyer you control up to a maximum of +3.

Use the map with the land on, but the island in B5 does not exist for this battle. Treat that space as open sea.

The land map actually bears quite a resemblence to the area of the Ofotfjord where the battle took place, with even a gap in the land to the south where Ballangen bay is.

If you lose as the British player, console yourself with the fact that you have already sunk 2 German destroyers before this battle began so you should really have started with 16 victory points!

1st off:  Welcome!

This scenario looks fun.  Well done!
Admiral Duncan

Sorry everyone, in my excitement of posting I seem to have forgoten the victory conditions.

Victory
The game ends when all ships of one side are sunk or all surviving British ships have exited the map
Only British ships may exit and they may only do so from the western (A) board edge.
Both players score points for sinking ships, and the British scores the point value of any exited ship. surviving or exited ships that are crippled are worth half the victory point value. There are no objective space victory points.

I think that does it!
