Now here's a real cryin shame. This ship existed into the 70's and I can remember an article in the old SPI magazine about some orginization trying to save it from being scrapped by the Turks. Didn't happen. Tis a shame.

Actually it was its sister-ship SMS Goben that reached Turkey in 1914 with a CL in 1914. It became the Turkish flagship Yavuz, serving for almost half a century b4 being scrapped in the 1970s.

Oh my god what was I thinking, The Goeben was Moltke class, I guess I have been staring at these ships and their stories too much, Well except for the ship name, I did get the story right, she was around in the early 70's, There was also a light cruiser around as well, I believe, let me remember, The SMS Breslau I believe, they were both given over to the Ottomans but still retained their German crews. Can't believe I said the Moltke, when I well knew the Goeben. Shame on me .

Any plans to make Goeben in Turkish colors?

I have thought of that Swarbs, I was thinking that maybe she should have a dual flag, one German, one Turkish. In fact when we bring the cards back to redo them in 3 months or so, I was going to suggest that the date a ship entered service with a nation be printed in the center of the nationality flag instead of the way it is done now. There were actually more than a few ships which switched nationalities during the 1890's to the 1920's either being captured during war time or sold outright to another nation. So in the case of Goeben/Yavuz she would have both nationality flag symbols with the appropriate dates printed in their centers. Or, we could do two different cards printed for each ship under each nation, the only problem with that would be a scenario where Goeben fought Yavuz.

Yes, we can do this. That's how the HHR cards work for AAM. They have little icons showing the nations and their corresponding years. Also, they include the theater of operations where the unit appeared.
