{The Battle of Midway, Part 2, c9June1942}

I am running {The Battle of Midway, Part 2, c9June1942} at a local convention. Rapier2009.
Here is the con's link: http://www.rapiercon.com/
Here are the details of the game I plan to run:

Description:      It is June 1942.  The Japanese refuse to retreat after the historic Battle of Midway on 6 June 1942 even through they lost 4 CVs.  Admiral Yamamoto is determined to destroy the USA's Pacific Fleet and take Midway Island.  They gather their BBs, BCs, Cruisers and Destroyers to invade and take the island.  the two Japanese CVLs near the Aleutian Islands during the historic carrier battle, rush south and get sunk in a second air battle, but before going down, their planes damage and drive away the USS Enterprise & Hornet.
While this second carrier battle is going on, most of the USA's Pacific Fleet's BBs & other surface vessels move to intercept the Japanese.  The two forces clash near Midway in the biggest surface action since the battle of Jutland over a quarter of a century earlier.
Players can bring their own miniatures or use the GM's.

I wish I had a mini of the IJN Nagato...  If anyone has one or two for sale, I would definitely purchase them. Cool

You could always use Yamashiro or something like that as a proxy.

I plan to do something very similiar.  I will pop out the two center turrets on my two Yamashiros and put temp covers over the holes.  The result sort of look like the Nagato and Matsu.  This will work for the game I am running.
For the older USA BBs, I have devised a reason why the entire "Big Five" are available, along with a couple of Mississippi class BBs.
A little variation on the location and timing of events of 7Dec41 in Hawaii:
First,  USS West Virginia is in dry dock, and USS Pennsylvania is next to the Tennessee.  The Pennsylvanis gets sunk on an even keel, raised , etc.
Second, the inspection of USS California's hull and viods takes place a week earlier.  The well trained crew of this ship are able to button the BB up b4 it gets hit by 2 torpedoes.  Although damaged, it does not sink and swaps places with the West Virginia the next day for repairs.
USS Maryland & Tennessee are still protected from torpedoes, and USS Colorado is in Bremerton undergoing a refit.  This refit which was already givin to USS Maryland is given to the other 4 BBs and they keep their awesome Lattice masts and are ready in June 1941 to avenge the USS Arizona, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
After, its a game, and things could have happened that way. Shocked

Here is a pic of my models of the "Big Five"

SJG,
You are making it harder and harder for me to not come to Rapiercon, especially since I live in Dothan, AL.  Are you involved with the Seekrieg games there as well?

You would be more than welcome at Rapier2009.  I have not played the new version of Siegkrieg, but would like to try... Cool
I imagine that the "Big Five" would be very formitable in 1942 in that naval game also.
