Don't believe anything these guys tell you. Most of them don't actually play the game, they just grind up the ships and snort the resulting powder through rolled-up copies of the most recent FAQ.

Waiting for my miniatures, i know i need a battlemap (i can't acquire a starter because they are sold out).

So i start to make my own map. Here is my Question: How larch is on square on the WaS-map? 2x2" oer 4x4"?

If you are making your own map, I recommend getting a piece of vinyl from a fabric store and using 4" by 4" squares.

I am sure some of us have extra maps in storage taking up space that minis should occupy.

So If I am understanding you correctly you do not have a starter set?

The only things you are missing are:
Rule booklet-available online
Counters-easily replaced
Map-make your own is easy
Island cards-kind of need these for the official games

I believe the official map is 7 sectors by 11 sectors with 3" or 3.5" sectors with a landbase at each end(not really needed).  If you make your own I would also suggest 4" sectors as the ships fit better.  Just remember the sectors are off set on each row.

Here is an example of the 4" sectors:

I know I have a  extra set (complete starter minus minis) I picked up off e-bay for $4 while I was deployed that I no longer need.  Not sure what shipping would be, but I would be happy to sell you a set for the cost of shipping to help out a new player.  Send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks for your offer afilter. But you'r right: shipping is a little bit expansive.

I'll make Maps with 4x4" large squares. So i can print a 2.5 x 2 square on a DIN A4 page (or 2.5 x 4 squares on DIN A3).

The last days i worked with TheGimp. These are the results:

I am not happy with the result. But i'll work on it.

Btw: Today i received my first booster (with some singles i bought - Fencer, Hurricans, Swordfishs, and so on). I hope to get a more or less interesset units (i favor german and british unit and hate italians). So, you can guess what i get? Eugenio di Savio and Zara.  *roll eyes*
