Reguarded by some as the most important Dutch ships of the war, the Flores Class Gunboats were known as the Terrible Twins.  Heavily armed with 5.9'' light cruiser guns and known to give extremely accurate fire, these ships fought at many places in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.  Some of the places they were are: Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Garigliano, Gaeta and at Normandy.  Another Gunboat of similar armament and fire control, the Johan Maurits van Nassau, took out an 88mm artillery battery with her 5.9'' guns from a range of just over 10 miles.  Here are her statistics and Preliminary stats.

Ships in class:  Flores and Soemba. (Johan Maurits van Nassau I guess could be included since she was developed from the Flores Class.)

Flores Commissioned: 25 March 1926, Scrapped 12 November 1968
Soemba Commissioned:12 April 1926, Scrapped 12 July 1985
Johan Maurits van Nassau Commissioned: 5 April 1933 Sunk, 14 May 1940 from air attack.

1,480 t standard, 1,822 t full load

Armament: (Some AA was added during the war)

3x 5.9'' guns in single turrets
1× 75 mm gun
4× .50 Browning machine guns
1× single 40 mm gun
4× 20 mm Hotchkiss
8× .303 machine guns

Speed: 15 Knots

Armor:

Bridge: 2''
Deck: 2''
Ammo Hoists: 1''
Gunshields: 3''

Preliminary Stats:

Flores  Gunboat  1939
Speed: 1

Main Guns: 5/4/3/2
AA: 5

Armor: 3???  Vital: 7   Hull: 2

SA's maybe something that has to do with bombardment or something, I would need some help here,

Points: 8

Let's begin.....

After reviewing their histories, I checked the Guideline SA's for anything that might fit.  These are just suggestions...

Flores... Sub Hunter and/or Bomb Survivor

Soemba... Convoy Screen and/or Close Convoy Escort

Johan Maurits van Nassau... Convoy Screen

This might be a little out there, but I was thinking that since here guns were accurate, she might have Excellent Spotting.  Like I said, it may be a little out there, but it is just a thought...

I'm hesitant to put excellent spotting on non-French units, since that's sort of like the French theme in War at Sea.  It's kind of like long-lances and night fighter for the Japanese, or ridiculous air units for the Americans.  Smile

chesty's idea for sub hunter is interesting, unless she had DC added to her some time, this would not work.  I have'nt seen anything about her having DC's, but i could be quite wrong.  Hoe are the prelim stats? hopefully I came close.  i think the only thing we would have to go over is the Armor 3 issue.

My bad!   Embarassed

After taking a closer look, I see that she took a Sub under fire on the surface. I found no record of DC's, either. I'm stumped.

Have you checked the Guidelines for WaS stats thread for SA ideas? You have to scroll about half way down the page to get to the SA's...
