Some custom minis on custom maps with custom counters and custom HHR rules. But at least its Axis&Allies so you might be interested in this little combat '44.
Here is the starting situation. A Pak40 hides in the fields and 2 hetzers stay ready behind a group of houses.
A reconnaissance group of 4 T-34/85 is entering this part of the map while a german panther is waiting for action.
I glued the gun and its crew on a transparent overhead foil. It works quite well because the map is too beautiful to have seperate modeled bases for the guns which would hide the hexes and its textures. Unfortunately i'm missing 2 additional gun crews so only 2 man with the pak.
The T-34 advance along the road.
The first tank run straight into the trap. The still hiding Pak40 opens fire.
BUUMM. Pak40 vs. T-34 1:0
The panther comes out of his hiding place too and opens fire on the surprised T-34.
The massive short ranged attack of the Panther rips of the whole turret of the sowjet tank.
The situation after the surprise attack:
The Panther advances while the remaining T-34/85 move backwards and spread out. The hiding Hetzers move out and try to encircle the Sowjets.
The Panther manages to take out the second T-34, but 2 hits of 85mm cannons penetrate its turretarmor and it starts to burn.
The last T-34 decides to turn back and flee
Suddenly a Sturmvogel enters the battlefield attacks the fleeing tank on low altitute
A lucky hit destroys the engine of the T-34 and the tank broke down and starts to burn....Germans defeated this reconaissance group, but lost another Panther.
Aftermaths: A lot of burning wrecks and the 2 hetzers come too late. The definitely will be needed for the next sowjet attacks...
PS: I edited this thread instead of posting new pics in new posts. Makes the little story more fluently. _________________

Very, very nice work there. You've done a great job on your minis. Please show more AARs as you complete them. _________________ Powerful men are well advised not to use violence,

| The map looks like it's from one of the Lock 'n Load games and the markers are definitely Litko. |

Yes, these are Litko Tokens on A3 printed Lock N' Load Maps. To be fair: Buzzkill was the first who came up with the Litko token idea: http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about4976.html&highlight=tokens Thank you for this great idea!
The hexes are 1,8" or sth....2" would be perfect, but when you print them A3 they are 1,8...
edit: A2 of course! _________________

How did you sucker those Russian tanks into the trap when I could see full well that the Pak 40 (awesome modelling) and the two Hetzers were hiding in wait for them?
We so need some concealment rules. |

The T-34 had to move along the road until germans open fire. And they are not allowed to shoot back in the same assault phase as a part of surprise. I believe thats the reason why the russian suffered these losses, but its quite realistic for a trap.
And there are proper concealment rules in the HHR-system which work fine. _________________

That's fantastic!!!
Now you've got me interested... What size are the flaming wreck markers? I'm looking at the Litko site and I see small, medium and large. _________________ The rabbits are coming, hooray, hooray...

Are these AAM minis, or are they your 1/144 scale minis? _________________

The pictures show how i play Axis & Allies today. All tanks, guns, infantry and planes have a constant 1/144 scale on 2" hexes. This has some advantages over the 15mm scale: usually you have a few painting alternatives as you can see on the T-34/85, lesser space for big battles, costs about the same (except painted infantry), awesome minis
Drawback: hard to find french, italian and japanese tanks.
Here is a closeup look at the Panther. I really like that pic, only the prepainted panzerguy isnt that beautiful. Well...you know how the closeups from the EF Panther looked alike...
And i'm currently working on a Nashorn. The cannon is tiltable to the right and left, but it is "empty" and missing a crew like the A&A version. I've put some spare prepainted guys in it, but i'm not quite happy about it. I'll show the finished version in the next AAR
Ah and @Lettische btw: Ask buzzkill what size he took for the markers. In his thread you can see his tokens on a 15mm Jagdpanther, but i dont know the size. I used the small ones for 12mm wargaming. _________________

Right on, I haven't seen the HHRcz concealment rules, I've only got old classic HHR which hasn't got a lot of new rules. Must...check...it...out! |

Cool.
Yeah, if only AT guns could be used like that in the game. Ordinarily, a heavy AT gun like a PAK 40 or an 88 gets clobbered almost instantly because of its vulnerability and lack of concealment. AT guns should be able to be used like they were in real life--you didn't know that they were there until the tank in front of you explodes.
But don't get me started...I could go on and on and on and on and on.
Nice job though Westentaschenschlachti
