Post subject: What should be classified as a L,M and S Gun ?

I propose that guns up to 5.5" be considered as Small guns. ( these guns currently have a max range of 2 sectors in DR )
I propose that guns of 5.6" to 9.9" be considered Medium guns ( these guns have range 3 in DR )
I propose that guns of 10" and up be considered Large guns ( these guns have ER4 and ER5 )
Well that is my proposal. Do you like it and if not what do you propose ? _________________ Gaming for 36 Years.

In my opinion 9.9" is way above Medium in WWI. I'd set it at 8.5". _________________

Would all large guns have ER 4
A gun @ 9 inches would have the same range (or close to it) as 11 in. _________________ Always Flying. Always Fighting. RIP JIMMY.

Yes, except for the 15"+ ones, currently those are the ones we give ER 5 to.
I'd also like to hear from Tiornu, Swarbs , Brass, Hgraves or ayone else who has some good ideas on this. C'mon, Dec. 17 is just around the corner. _________________ Gaming for 36 Years.

Interestingly, in WAS the limit for range 3 is 5.5 inch. 5.4 and below have range 2. _________________

Don't forget our sector scale is different than WaS. 5.4" is range 2 , I just put 5.5" to round the small guns out, I'm not sure if I've rated any 5.5" guns yet, I'll have to check. _________________ Gaming for 36 Years.

I think the only 5.5" guns that have shown up so far were the ones on HMS Chester that JJ posted. Which points out a problem right off the bat, in that the custom-made 5.5" on the cruisers built for Greece had nearly the same performance range-wise as the British standard 6", but since they were only two ships you wouldn't want change the gun classifications just to accommodate them. In the other LMS thread it was suggested that Extended Range could be done away with but SAs like that exist for just such cases as this, i.e. to give exceptional examples of one class some of the characteristics of a better class. That way, you could keep 5.5" guns in general classified as S, which makes sense, but give these two ships Extended Range 3. Just a thought. _________________ LT
