So, one of the games (among many, maybe too many) I play is Warhammer 40k. Do any of you play? If so what armies do you run?

I used to play it, from 2nd Ed through to 4th Ed then stopped. I used to collect Imperial Guard and Dark Angels.

I am more of a Epic 40K/Space Marine, Necromunda, Mordheim, Blood Bowl, Space Hulk player Smile

I do read a lot of the novels. Many of the Horus Heresy series and some of the 40k era ones too.

I still buy a few models here and there, for painting.

Somehow, I was into collecting the more obscure teams. So, apart from Orks and Chaos Marines, I had Sisters of Battle and Necrons. That was before the Necrons army book, when they were just an article in the White Dwarf.
The many pointless rulebook revisions and the always disappointing gameplay killed the game for me.

Speaking about Games Workshop, I also ventured in Wfb, Mordheim, Necromunda, Gorkamorka, Battlefleet Gothic, Talisman and both Lord of the Rings games (SBG and WotR).
Too many disillusions. Sad

Space Marine/Titan Legions and Epic Armageddon was, IMO< their better game.
Especially Epic Aarmageddon - it's hard to master and sometimes a little finicky but on the other hand, the fire suppression and morale rules are very sweet piece of game mechanics.
Most games feature basic damage/hits and morale rules. EA took it than one step further and with the fire suppression/morale rules, a unit is longer simply 100% effective or running away.

A shame that it was never supported more, or that it wasn't streamlined and improved, re the finicky reference.

I liked BFG a lot. There just wasn't enough breadth and depth of rules and fleets until way after it was stopped being supported as a main game...
