Post subject: Hello and first post

Hi all,
I'm Murray (Muzzaguchi), a military historian from New Zealand, living in Sydney, Australia. Mostly study ancient warfare but I like WWI I and II from my modelling days. I have been lurking for a while but have joined and am now biting the bullet with my first post. I have been collecting AAMinis for a while but really don't have any friends interested in playing so I build lists etc. and amass minis (well, I say amass but I am sure that most here have greater lists than mine - the idea of buying a case intrigues me and makes my bank account shudder)
I love Early War and some of the minors so am looking forward to the Early War Set immensely. I have Poland, Finland, Kuomintang, Greece, Canada, Australia, France, as well as the UK Japan and Italy. I don't really have US, Ger or USSR - although I got enough minis to play the NA scenarios that came with the maps - still trying to convince some one to play with.
I am a bit daunted by the online game thing - I'd probably have to set up the map in the room and move them physically rather than keep track on an online map - maybe one day. I do enjoy reading the online battles though.
Reading, I was very interested in seeing if I could build a scenario based on King Force (6 Churchill IIIs versus the 21st Panzer Div at El Alamein in October 1942) Not sure how to go about it (and apologies this is not in the scenario sub-forum)- have got and am repainting 6 V2 Churchill IVs - should I give them the same points as IVs and then make the opposition restricted to what the 21st could field and maybe 200 points? Is that how ones does it or is there more involved?
Cheers

Welcome aboard! Nice to have more Aussies on here, despite Raevski's reputation for nastiness.
I'd like to play more online also, but the techie stuff is beyond me.
Do you play the GMT Great Battles of History games?
For scenarios, contact General Hoth or anyone on that subforum for advice. They'd be glad to help, I'm sure. _________________

Snippersly is another one of the scenario gurus you should check with.
I've almost given up on the point-constructed games considering all the great scenasrios now available. We play those most often nowadays. _________________

They have Sheep jokes. (No offence intended. in NZ there are more sheep than people). _________________

Thank you all! - indeed I understand Kangaroo jokes (and, dare I say it, those about about Tasmanai) but sheep jokes (I think there are 60 million sheep in NZ and close to 4 million people) and accent jokes - 'fush und chups' are the most common for us 'frunds from across the dutch' - explanation: The Tasman sea between the Australia and NZ is known as 'the Ditch' _________________ ‘I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. Welcome.
Cool an Aussie Kiwi...
Raevski is not that bad - there are worse here
Concerning scenarios - I think ALL is allowed - just put in an idea - fill it with a bit background and spice it with the units .... _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]

WELCOME!!!
I'm a beginner scenario designer with about 1/2 dozen published here on Forumini - happy to bat ideas around.
It sounds like you're completely on the right track - select representative units, find a map that is representative of the terrain involved, determine victory conditions that are representative, tactically interesting and give both sides an equal chance of victory then playtest for balance. _________________
