If not, I think I'll tackle that next, using standard 3" maps.

No offense, but I would suggest that you read Blumenson's "Battle of the Generals" first.

Try this one out:

the fanatical defence of Falaise by the 12 SS Division.

None taken. Why do you suggest that?

It is on my wish list to write...but I'm focused on my Battle for Caen project now.  The first scenario in the series is almost done.

Go for it...would love to try it out!

My grandfather was shot (and survived) at Falaise. We could certainly use more scenarios on the subject.

YES!! No more folding 10 maps to make one!

(just kidding)

Point taken, but in my own defense, compare my scenario maps in the last two scenarios to the battle/topo maps from my sources - they're as "dead-on" as you can get with AAM maps!

No, you convinced me to switch - I'm going to try to strike more of a compromise between accuracy and making them easy to pick up and play, to maximize their use.

I'm waiting for three books in a "Normandy Series" about the lead-up to the Falaise battle, and the battle itself.

What's your Caen series going to cover? - I don't want to duplicate.

I like to make my scenarios work as tributes - maybe I could do something that involved his unit.

That's why I want a Canadian Vickers.  Look at my Avatar.  It's from the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (not to be confused with the Cameron Highlanders of Canada).  It was a heavy weapons regiment (now a reserve infantry unit).  He was a machine gunner and went from Normandy to Germany.  I'm working on a Carpiquet scenario which he saw action in, for Operation Windsor.

It will give you some light on why the gap was not closed.

Suggest reading on the subject... Falaise

I've read most of the classic, with a "England" view of the subject and a rather harsh treatment of the Canadian capacity.

Now, with a less bias view of the theatre of action.
