Hey Raevski, just making a thread to cover this topic.

I'm game for this match-up as either side.  At 100 points, I'd think Ms.406 Matimaha x3 for 91 points is the only choice for the Finns.  If it were me building the Soviets, I'd go with a Guards Yak-I, and 3x I-16 Ishak for 97 points.  That's about as PG of a USSR build as you can get at 100 points, with excellent synergy between the Guards Yak Flight Leader SA and the Swarm Tactics SA for the Ishak.

I'd like a few days break before starting my next game, but I'm completely okay discussing how we'd like to handle the test in the meantime.

Cool your suggestion will be fine.

Who would you like to be? Finns for you?

It really doesn't matter to me.  I have an interest in playing both sides of the match-up.  We could always play one game one way, then flip the match-up in a second game, depending upon how much online gaming you'd like to do.  I should probably do the Finns first.

I'm going to have to mess around with maps, or get Asbestos or Rebel to show me the ins and outs of maps in A20.  It is probably as easy as WAS, but those plane icons will take some work, especially orienting them in the right direction.

Downloading GIMP should work, you then open the map and planes in it, position them (and rotate if needed) save as PNG/JPG, and upload to photobucket. Really, as long as you have some sort of arrow pointing the direction the plane is facing, and the name of the plane (Ms.406[1]) then it would work.

Yes, but that would be a terrible shame since I just made a Finnish MS.406 and Soviet Yak-1 token...

Yeah, Verg, in that case, you must use GIMp to make the images look nice! Wink (And if you use the tint tool on the Yak-1, it can be the Rookie! Very Happy

I made two Yak-1s. One green, one light grey (couldn't find a top down of a white one)

Downloading GIMP right now.  I'll play around with it tomorrow and if I feel like I've got it mastered, I'm ok for starting very soon.

I can probably do that.  I've copied the maps and the images to my computer, so I'll have them to post.  I'll probably be out and about for the next few hours, so it will have to happen much later.

Finnish Matimaha, Veteran Yak, then I-16 across the bottom.

I think I can probably get this to work and am ready to at least try the game.

That makes this about as easy as possible, doesn't get more balanced than situation 1.

Roll for advantaged/disadvantaged, high roll wins.
Rolls: (2d6)

This roll won't matter too much other than who sets up first.

Arlight.  I'm disadvantaged and set up first.  I'll get a map up in a second.

Apparently I did not have as much mastery of the new program as I thought.  For whatever reason, I had trouble manipulating the planes and getting them into position facing in the right direction.  I've at least got them on the right starting squares, but if Rebel or Asbestos is watching and would mind sharing exactly how they manipulated the images to get the planes doing exactly what they should be doing, that might help me out in the future.

Your set-up.

Well since you're using GIMP, I can't help as much (I use PS CS5), but IIRC, you just have to grab the corner of the image box (the thing that appears around the plane when you click it) and twist them the ay you want it to turn, then it should turn that way... at least I think! Very Happy Hope that helps!
