Post subject: Duel of Prototypes 'Tony' v. P-38F-15 for TSC Practice  Reply with quote   (Liked by:0)  Like this post
Hi  Very Happy

Anyone want to try it?

Jcmonson and I were just discussing the Tri-Service Campaign and the Air War aspect, and we came up with an acceptable Protototype for a 1942 P-38F-15 and its numbers, which will give the 'Tony' better odds, as was appropriate for this time period. The Ki-61 'Hien' or "Tony" was the dominent fighter for this period and allowed the IJN to enjoy a certain amount of Air Superiority for the latter part of '42.

P-38F-15 can be found in Pilotless Aircraft Pg.5, about 3/4 the way down the page.

http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/ftopic33498-0-asc-80.php

So the only changes are as follows:

Attacks  8-6-4 and 4 at Range 4 as well
(instead of the 5 of the J ACE).

Turn 2
Roll 2
Climb 5
Dive 4

SA's are as the J only no Zoom Climb.

Tony Ace per new Card.

I'm Game and can map, etc.

FF Very Happy

Embarassed Sorry, I meant to say '43 and that the prototypes would be app for late '42.

Anyway, they should be fun to try out.

Cheers,

FF

one thing that we would have to decide before any games start is what the pilot skill level should be and how many point it will cost.

Well for a prototype, type duel, we don't require that.

Normally you're correct and I say the P-38F can be about what 53-56 or so.?

For the TSC if Flak still wants to use these, he should probably have a say on final costing, as well.

Cheers,

FF

for the duel we would still need pilot quality for attack bonus, Im setting up a spreadsheet for the TSC, so i was wondering about the points for that.

Sure. I understand. I thought that we could just use the cards we've been given with the changes (that I am suggesting, not written in stone), and go from there.

In other words, just to see how these two ACES would do in combat. I am good with either set of numbers for the P-38 ACE.

Cheers,

FF

Right. Please see my first post. They are both ACES, right?

My point adjustment suggestions were still a range that I feel is acceptable. It is just a matter of which side you feel we should err to.

Do you think cutting the attack number at band 3 and 4 and losing the Zoom Climb SA warrents this guy being a Vet for like 49 to 52 points or stay an ACE at around 52-55?

FF

He can stay ACE, i missed that part of the first post.  We could try it out in 2 games one as an Ace and one as a Vet and see which one plays better.
