I think it would be interesting to do "impulses".

- Team winning initiative determines if they want to go first or second.  First team - one "general" conducts movement phase for his units, then opposing team moves ALL their pieces, then the other general from the first team moves.  Same order for assault phase. (so Team 1, player 1....then Team 2, players 1 and 2...then Team 1, player 2)

- OR, Team 1, player 1...then Team 2, player 1...then Team 1, player 2...Team 2, player 2.

Each turn each team will designate which player will be "1" and which will be "2".

Thoughts?  Am I in left field here?

Well, considering the USSR, we have vast plains & up close slugfests. The other thing is how many points & type of battle. joebunda likes strategy games, mmarfox likes to win, makes for a unique combination. I am a lowly padwan, my fellow commander is an unknown to me, you guys ain't........Smile...........Time for some table talk

Ok, so...how about this?

300 pts per side.  Each team can decide how to split the points, but each player must have at least 100 pts.  Each player can only play the pieces they start with.

v1 maps, 3x3 configuration, each player will start on a corner map, setup 4 hexes in.

Planes or no planes?  If yes, they start on turn 2 and cost 1 pt less.

1 objective close to the center of the center map.  Each team will select an additional objective anywhere on the center 3 maps, but not within 4 hexes of another objective (total of 3 objectives).  Turn 7 must control 2 objectives, or control 1 and contest the other 2.

1 hero per side
max total of 6 specials (hero, para, 5/5 def, partisans)
Year 1943

Is this a League game?

How about this for a map?  I think objectives are:
- West side of bridge on coast road
- crossroads East of pond
- Town in south center

This map looks good.  Also, I like planes and these rules:

It'd be cool to make this a league game since both sides are playing as there club sides.

Is there a year limit that we already decided upon?  If not, then how bout just 1945 to keep it simple and open.

Also, obstacles are usually no more than 10% of your army, but that'd be 30pts allotted for each side. That is kind of steep.  Should we limit it a little more?

joebunda, we can start talking strategy when you're ready.

oh, and for sequence of play, I would like to keep it simple at Team 1/ player 1....Team 2/ player 1.....Team 1/ player 2.....Team 2/ player 2.

This is the least complicated, and in a game this size, that will go a long way.

But whatever y'all want is fine with me.

I proposed 1943, but anything is fine with me.

Roger on keeping play sequence simple.  It would be easier FTF.
