An air game has little interest for me, but I am happy for those of you that want one. I know there are a lot of WWII air war fans here. I am very disappointed to see Set VI delayed, but not surprised.

That's disappointing news, but I cannot say I'm surprised.  We ought to be used to it at this point.

Sad.  Wonder how well will it do?

My concern is what is it taking from the General AAM mini budget.

If it fails what effect will it have for AAM and WAS?  Will it push them over the line to unfavorable status at WoTC ?

I doubt it will a affect WaS. It has to justify itself based on sales. However, the tie-in with the land game certainly looks like the air game is partly an attempt to revive the land game as well. 1/100 scale aircraft seems a bit large to me. Is there any other game that would use aircraft models of that size?

At least we know what the Star Wars and D & D miniature artists have been up to lately.  It can't be bad that the focus has moved to the A & A product line. Wink

I remember the A&A rep at Heat of Battle IV in New Orleans last year said something about an air-game in the works.

Remember posting it here too.

Looks like he was right.

Wonder if it'll be similar to say...Wings of War.

Probably a double-scale version.

Actually I was thinking to get into an air game but it would have to be as good as WaS, and thats a hard act to follow.

It would want to be pretty good, I wonder if it will use the same aircraft stands and scale as in WaS. We could capitalize here fellas.

The cool part is the starter should only be around the $30 mark, so it would be a cool secondary game for me to collect and play on the same gameboard I use for WaS. It has some interesting possibilities I can see.

Its a pitty our new set has been bumped in favour of this new game though, maybe RB thinks we are established enough to try something new.

Cheers interesting thread Raevski Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

As far as I can tell from M2AO's post, WAS pushed back the air game, not vice-versa.

RB just blogged that he was looking at the first physical sculpts, so the timing looks suspect to me. Perhaps there was a significant issue that required rework and THAT's the cause of the 2-month push...?

Despite my own complaints about the Axis and Allies CMG Brand (both land and sea) I've always thought their basic concept and gameplay was pretty good for me. Pity I've invested (ever so slightly) into Wings of War. I'm guessing Angels 20 will be a more squadron type game with one player controlling about a dozen aircraft. It'll be an interesting between Wings of War and Angels, one has a longer history while the other will put out a crapload more minis in a shorter timeframe.

Crossover between WAS and the new line will be limited in my opinion. The bigger aircraft miniatures (twice the size of wings) will be harder to reconcile with our small ship size.  I think Afilter used some WAS ships with a Wings game but that was only as part of the scenery as I recall.

Actually, once WoW WWII gets enough stuff, I was actually thinking of writing up a ruleset that would use WoW as a "zoomed-in view" for resolving the air combat... but you'd need a buttload of WoW minis to do it, unless you assumed each figure was one flight of the squadron (say, 6 bomber or 8 fighter WoW Minis = 1 WAS stand, and you need at least half to make it through to not get an Abort).

That sounds like a very interesting idea I would be very interested to read it if it gets done.

Football Gods no.

Would like something completely different. Love wings of war. But something similar would be a waste of time and money, as well as a losing proposition for WotC.

Would like to see something where I can control a dozen or 2 planes without the cumbersome of WoW.

WoW is perfect if you want to play with 1 or 2 planes. Not so much if you want to control a dozen or 2.
