Post subject: AG124's Trades (WaS/AAM 1.0/AAM 2.0) (Updated Nov. 3rd)
|
|
|
After having spoken to an employee at the post office, I have found that it costs an arm and a leg to ship within Canada, since we don't have a small packet option within our own country. However, I can ship to the US and Europe for about $5.00-$6.00 - therefore, I may be more receptive to trades with Europeans and Americans. However, very favourable trades within Canada might be worth my time as well. Also, keep in mind that physically small units (like WaS cruisers) can easily and cheaply be shipped via letter mail.
Guidelines:
1. I would prefer to trade with those who have a positive GTL score (I don't mind sending first, but only if that person already has a good reputation).
2. I don't care if units are bagged or not, as long as they are in good condition with an undamaged card.
3. Also, I am only willing to participate in trades with a favourable shipping cost to myself - presumably only Europe and the US,
4. I trade by relative value of the items on each side of the trade (as determined by current eBay prices), rather than by status (i.e. not necessarily rare for rare).
5. I have a +22 on the GTL. Completed trades/purchases: Jesse_James (x1), Richter von Manthofen (x1), afilter (x2), Lt_Vleclopity (x3), pdel21 (x1), Jameson/RSG (x2), chris6 (x1), Tripwire (x1), Visio (x1) MrKen (x2), Okie (x1), TorontoBizz (x1), Sgt WAKA (x1), acs0424 (x1), and Pablon (x1). Pending - Richter von Manthofen (x1).
7. I am possibly willing to buy units, but only for a fair price in regards to my favorite eBay sellers.
8. I am willing to sell units, but the buyer must pay shipping (which will be between $5.00-$6.00 CDN for surface shipping to the US and Europe). Also, I would only accept payment in US or Canadian dollars, and only from Paypal (well, actually, maybe cash too if you like), and payment would have to be sent first before I ship. If you want to buy something, please make an offer (I prefer trades though). Also, as I have learned from numerous online sales, it's not safe to ship to Italy, Brazil, or Nigeria - I have nothing against people from those countries, but I cannot take the chance doing business in countries where it is almost a given that a parcel shipped there will disappear or that I will be the victim of a scam or identity theft.
9. My want list is divided into three parts,
Wants: My main want list.
Secondary Wants: Units which I might take, but which aren't high priority.
Low Demand Wants: Commons, uncommons, and a few 1.0 junk rares to strengthen up trades based on better units. Though I would probably accept anything if it was absolutely dirt cheap...

Secondary Wants:
These are not rated as high by me in my wants list as the units above, but are too valuable to be considered 'low demand' wants, as below. I would be willing to accept these, but would not be as eager to accept a deal as for the units above (it all depends on the exact trade):
Set I:
- US - Rare - M4A3E8 Sherman "Easy Eight" x2 [Want cards only]

- UK - Common - Martlett x3
- SU - Rare - Oktybraskaya Revolutsia x2
- GE - Common - U-47 x3+
- JP - Common - T1 Landing Ship x4+
There are other units I might accept as well, although they are low priority. I might draw up a list later, but generally they do not include 1.0 vehicles. Also, they are the kind of units you should use to beef up a trade largely involving the above high-demand units; an offer made largely or entirely of units in which I'm not really interested would not be of much interest to me.
Most of these units don't have a specified quantity; this is because I'm not really searching for these units in particular and usually have no number in mind.
Low Demand Wants:
Base Set:
- US - Common - M1 Garand Rifle x1+ (either set)
- SU - Common - Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 x1+ (either set)
- GE - Common - Mauser Kar 98k x1+ (either set)
Set II:

I would happily trade Yamato for Ark Royal, but since I live in Spain I'm not entirely sure the trade would be cost-effective...
Maybe in an envelope or something? |

I would be willing to trade an Ark Royal for your Yamato, but I'm pretty sure it would cost a fortune to ship from Canada to Spain, and probably from Spain to Canada as well (even if the units were shipped in envelopes). It would probably be more economical to buy the units online from the US, but I'll keep your offer in mind for now. _________________ AAM

So, is it that mail in Canada is so expensive?
I just shipped a package to somone in Canada and was suprised that it actaully cost less than a similar sized domestic package in US (only $1.93).
I have also shipped to Denmark and Finland recently and both were under $6.
Just wondering because I have seen you make this comment before which is why I was so suprised when I sent my package. _________________ Aaron

I can't seem to find a price cheaper than $9.00 within Canada, and nothing cheaper than $11.00 from Canada to the US. That's simply too expensive to be worth bothering with, and I just don't know how to to find a cheaper rate. I don't know how much it would cost to use a bubble envelope, and I can't seem to find any information regarding this on Canada Post's website.
I actually brought an Ark Royal to a local post office last summer to have it weighed for a shipping estimate. I was told that to ship it to the states would cost at least $7.00 and maybe more. I was also told that it would be a little cheaper to cheap it in a bubble envelope, but that it would probably be crushed in the package.
If someone from Canada can give me some advice regarding Canadian shipping, I would appreciate it very much. I find this to be a very frustrating hurdle over which I cannot cross. _________________ AAM

Wow, I would talk to Jameson as I have traded with him.
I cannot bleieve I can pay US 1.93 to ship a box with 5 minis in it to Canada and you cannot ship one mini for less than $7.
One more reason to Annex Canada I guess.
Good Luck, I would hate to see you miss out on some great trading opportunities. _________________ Aaron

Look at it this way it will cost you a certain amount to ship yes, but it will cost the other person a similar amount. It comes down to how much you would like the product you are trading for. Canada Post is ridiculously expensive try around to courier companies. You have to declare what the shipment is (outside of Canada) but you can ship for around $10.00 and have next day delivery. _________________ Trade List

Post subject: Canadian Shipping Rates
|
|
|
I think I found something encouraging for shipping to the US and other international locations from Canada. Small packet delivery to the US - $5.05 (ground) up to 250 grams (which is all I really need). International small packet (surface) - $5.65-$6.00, depending on rate code (don't how to determine what geographical areas these rate codes are though).
Does anyone know anything about this? These rates seem very reasonable to me, and I intend on asking about them at the post office when I return home tomorrow.

Updated with North Africa wants and haves. I'm looking into shipping here in NB again, as I thought I saw an option on a sign at the local post office that cost less than $4.00.
Also, I did get a +1 from a purchase of units from Jesse_James, but due to the unexplained and worrying absence of Jameson from the boards, it is not recorded in either the NA trade list or GTL. You can find it near the end of the NA trade thread though. _________________ AAM

Update - just won a few rares on eBay, including a couple I didn't really want but bid low on in case they would make good trades; the two units are in the mail, but I am accepting early offers on them:
- US - Rare - Veteran M4 Sherman Rhino x1 [In Mail - Taking Early Offers]
- SU - Rare - T-34 Command Tank x1 [In Mail - Taking Early Offers]
I don't know if they're bagged or not yet. I won't actually initiate the trade from either end until I receive them, of course. _________________ AAM

Post subject: More Trades

Looks like bidding low on eBay items I don't want to keep (along with ones I do want) is earning me more trade fodder - here's a few more I just won that are in the mail. Plus, this post will later be updated to include more on which I am currently bidding.
WAS:
- GE - Rare - Scharnhorst x1 (In Mail - Taking early offers).
MAPS:
- 2" - Dog 2 Snow Covered (In Mail - Taking early offers).
EDIT - Also, the following units:
- SU - Rare - SU-85 x1 [39-45] [In Mail - Taking Early Offers]
- GE - Rare - Veteran Tiger [NA] x1 [In Mail - Taking Early Offers]
EDIT: Another trade item won (June 9th, 2008) - there may be more soon too. Check back later.
- CA - Rare - Sherman VC 17 Pounder [39-45] [In Mail - Taking Early Offers] _________________ AAM
